Seven Sisters in Oregon
On July 8th many of the intercessors across Oregon will begin 31 Days of Prayer for the state of Oregon, looking forward to the Oregon Prayer Gathering on August 8th. We believe God’s aim is to bring all Oregon Intercessors attending the prayer gathering into unity.
Often people have asked me to teach them how to pray, and this seemed a logical progression and a tool that once created would give direction for personal and statewide prayer.
I have worked hard preparing the 31 Days of Prayer material and seeking the Lord about how to organize the daily prayer directives. Some of you maybe familiar with the seven mountains or spheres of influence which are family, religion, education, media, entertainment, business and government, first shared by Loren Cunningham, Founder of Youth With a Mission (YWAM) and Bill Bright of Campus Crusade for Christ in the 1970’s.
These seven mountains provide a framework providing daily continuity for the 31 days of prayer. Here is a brief introduction to each mountain.
∘Family – the institution first set up by God
∘Religion – corporate family of God, comprising the people of God
∘Education – comprising schools and all forms of education
∘Media – public communication – all forms, printed and electronic
∘Entertainment – where you celebrate within a culture; through arts and entertainment, including sports and recreation.
∘Business – Whole area of economy, including innovations in science and technology, productivity, sales and service.
∘Government – comprising all three branches: judicial, legislative and executive.
Along with these seven daily prayer focuses we have 4 weekly themes/focuses which are holiness, faith, hope and love. The final three days will focus on joy which is the natural out pouring! Each of the daily topics will be woven through the weekly themes providing ample yet focused prayer direction.
Finally, there are the state specific focuses, which might be a surprise to you, for they are counties clusters within the state of Oregon. These clusters break the state into 12 regional groups which as we researched the idea of clustering the counties, we found these clustering of counties already working together, such as the three of the four counties of Portland Metro area, Multnomah, Clackamas and Washington (the fourth is Clark county which is in the state of Washington), making each cluster a nature and comfort final focus.
In July we will be looking at these seven mountains of prayer, exploring each one and learning how to more biblically and effectively pray.

A final note about using the 31 Days of Prayer for Oregon for your own state; with just few changes, i.e. removing the Oregon counties with your own states counties, you can pray with us, using these seven mountains of prayer.
