Do you feel blessed?

23 02 2010

Have you ever asked the Lord where he wanted you to read in your bible, and then gone there to spend time with him? Recently I did this very thing and found myself in Ephesians 1. Several profound life changing questions arose from the text.

Ephesians 1:3 which reads: “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.” The question here is do I really believe that? Often we walk around feeling defeated and lost as if there were not the case. How can I “really” believe?

I got my answer as I read on… In Eph 1:11-12 we are told, “In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory.”

Ephesians goes on: “And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,” Here came an answer to the question I am often asked: Can I have the Holy Spirit? In the Foursquare church there is a real emphasis on being filled with the Holy Spirit.  And here in scripture we see that God marks us with his seal, the Holy Spirit, so because the Holy Spirit is seal,  the promise  of God all who believe in Jesus have the Holy Spirit!

This was an amazing time with the Lord and I hope it inspires you to thumb through the bible with God.
