Sin’s Wilderness

21 09 2010

I don’t know about you, but from time to time I just take the bible and ask God to speak to me and then I open it. Recently I did this and found God speaking to me through Deuteronomy 2 where God is speaking to the Israelites about turning North to home and the promised land.

I felt this was a message to me about today especially concerning my writing. I have been writing a blog for several years as I build up to writing my first book. I remember the day I just shut the door on God especially when it came to writing, just as the Israelites had when God ask them to enter the Promised Land.

I had been on staff with Fred and Florence Littauer and they were encouraging me to step out and I just couldn’t, so instead I came up with legitimate reasons, much like Israel did. The people were big, Israel said, and chose instead to live in the land of excuses and regrets.

When God is for us, who can be against us as the saying goes, but walking it out is a whole different story, which is where I fouled up. I looked at all the stuff, from kids at home and MS (multiple sclerosis), to not having the writhing abilities and so I said no. How could I do what the Lord was directing me to? Israel had seen a giant and so did I.

As I finished reading Deuteronomy 2, I realized that over the years I have learned so much and had even stopped beating myself up with regrets, allowing myself to walk out of the land of excuses. Now I have the skills, but even if I find I don’t, I still am willing to allow my voice to be heard, speaking the truth in love, so Promised Land here I come!
