Is God Really Valuable?

7 12 2010

In   this Christmas season when we are thinking about gifts to give and those we wish to receive, I want to share with you a wonderful lesson God teaches using a gift that I am sure many women would love to receive, jewelry.

“Does a maiden forget her jewelry, a bride her wedding ornaments?

Yet my people have forgotten me, days without number.”

JER 2:32

Here in the USA we don’t think of God as a precious adornment around our necks. We think of him more as the legalistic noose which threatens to destroy our joy.

The glory of God, the miracles of God and His presence were always meant to be our most precious gem, greater than the Excelsior Diamond, the largest diamond in the world and more precious than the gold cross, which for so many in our country is just a simple adornment around their neck.

Why is it we don’t see the extraordinary value of God in our lives. It is a choice and I believe that to think of God as legalistic and a rock around our necks instead of a precious adornment is a bad choice.

I have allowed these words of Jeremiah to challenge me to see God as my greatest adornment and because of that I will never look at another piece of jewelry without assessing how I value God, what about you?

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Mildred
