Hunger vs. Blessing

We are in the middle of a series on murmuring, and how our murmuring holds back the blessings of God. God cares about our hunger whether it is physical, emotional or spiritual, but when we murmur (grumble) we will find our focus is on our needs overshadowing our faith in the provision (blessings) of God.

 

            Reading in Exodus 16 we once again see the Israelites grumbled against Moses, Aaron and ultimately against God himself when they didn’t have food. God had plans to provide for them, yet they couldn’t believe for His blessing of provision and so those who wanted to return to Egypt grumbled. God desires for us cry to out to him, for are we acknowledging our need and our faith is expanded. When we grumble or murmur we are really complaining out a lack of faith and we become emotionally fueled by evil and selfish desire not unlike those Israelites who wanted to return to Egypt.

 

            Moses had the faith to go to God and ask for the provision his people needed. I rejoice that here in the Old Testament those words of 1 John 1:9 were proven true. For God was faithful and just to forgive sins and cleanse all unrighteousness including the murmuring of his chosen people, Israel.

 

Next time we will be looking at how fear driven murmuring caused the Israelites to forfeit the Promise Land for 40 years.
