Crying Out to the Lord

4 06 2011

As we close the series on murmuring we are going to end on a bright note. There is a difference between crying out to God, seeking his help and murmuring, grumbling or complaining. Nineteen times the bible records that God’s people cried out to their God, which confirms we are always to cry out to our God, for in our seeking God, He will deliver us. We see this in Exodus when the Israelites cried out to the Lord because of their slavery.

EX 2:23 During that long period, the king of Egypt died. The Israelites groaned in their slavery and cried out, and their cry for help because of their slavery went up to God. 24 God heard their groaning and he remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac and with Jacob. 25 So God looked on the Israelites and was concerned about them.

God heard Jonah when he cried out in the whale and he will hear us when we cry out.

“In my distress I called to the LORD, and he answered me. From the depths of the grave I called for help, and you listened to my cry.” JNH 2:1-2

Over the last 20 years of ministry I have cried out to the Lord as I sat ministering to clients and each and every time God heard my cry and He gave me direction in how to effectively minister to the person sitting with me. Often they didn’t even realize that I had no idea where we were going, but I had peace for God always did!

We must never forget the past physically, emotionally, and spiritually provision of the Lord. For in remembering His provision we have the road map of faith to believe rather than choosing to murmur about our current situation.

I enjoyed your blog on calling out to the Lord. This is something that the world has to take the mystery out of for their daily lives.
