Having a Strong Heart Relationship part 3

2 07 2011

In this post we are continuing to learn why the attributes of love, are so key to having a strong heart relationship with God. Looking once again at 1 Corinthians 13:4 – 8

Love is patient, love is kind.

It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.

It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.

Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails.

Having a strong heart relationship goes beyond patience and kindness. As human beings we become weak-willed in our relationship with God when we envy, boast and are proud, for we are exalting ourselves and others above Him.

Having a weak-willed relationship with God is not unlike a child who upon entering the candy store sees the jars full of candy, and wants to have it all.  So in that moment faced with jars full of candy this child chooses to forsake all else to get what he wants, throwing a tantrum with uncontrollable tear.

Love overcomes the tears of a wanting child just as the love of God can and does overcome feeling of envy, thoughts of boasting and moments of pride. Lord help us all to become sons and daughter who release feelings of envy, thoughts of boasting and moments of pride allowing your love to flood us making our relationship with you strong.

Join me next time as we look once again at having a strong heart relationship with God.
