Pure Wisdom

28 04 2012

Last time we began the discussion of James 3:17-18 and the attributes or characteristic of the wisdom that comes from heaven. We talked about how wisdom is a key to the kingdom of Heaven making its attributes very valuable to all of us.

“But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.”

The first of these attributes of the wisdom is pure. What is pure, unmixed with any other matter, spotless, stainless is what the Webster dictionary tells us.

As I look further at the word purity, the quality of being pure. I realize wisdom is unattainable apart from God. The only way we can really become spotless or stainless is by accepting Christ in all areas and aspects of our lives. So true wisdom, which is the wisdom that comes from heaven, begins and ends with God. What God did in Christ, who God is, our heavenly Father. We must realize that wisdom isn’t in ourselves, it is in relationship with God, looking at our lives and the world from his perspective. We take our sinfulness out of the equation, what a novel concept!

When we allow our wisdom to become the wisdom that comes from heaven first and foremost our sinfulness is taken out of the equation! God is so good, I rejoice now and always in his provision in giving us his wisdom!
