Peace-loving wisdom

1 05 2012

In our quests to understand wisdom we have been looking at the eight attributes/characteristics of the wisdom that comes from heaven from James 3:17-18. Last time we looked at pure wisdom the first of these attributes and today we look at the second of these attributes of the wisdom that comes from heaven, peace-loving wisdom!

Christ said in John 14:27; “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give you.”  This is the first time the word peace is used in the New Testament, which is very significant. Christ goes on to say, “I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

Webster’s defines peace-loving as inclined or disposed to peace. As I look further the word peace includes freedom from disquieting or oppressive thoughts or emotions. This is the peace Christ is talking about in John 14, freedom from disquieting or oppressive thoughts or emotions. As we embrace Christ and obey his commands, we free ourselves from our own human thought patterns to listen to our heavenly counselor, the Holy Spirit.

Peace-loving wisdom therefore is free from disquieting or oppressive thoughts and emotions freeing us to hear God and receive the wisdom that comes from heaven.

Father help us to embrace the full meaning of peace-loving wisdom that we might embrace you, and become free from disquieting or oppressive thoughts and emotions.  In Christ’s Name we pray.

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie
