Finishing Well Transition

6 11 2012

Over the next several posts we will be looking at the finishing well transition of Jesus.  Here we are not looking at the death and resurrection of Christ but rather we are looking at Jesus the man and how he navigated his transition, finishing well in the eyes of God with both his disciples as he left his ministry and those he loves as he said good-bye to family and friends.

“From then on, Jesus began telling his disciples what would happen to him. He said, ‘I must go to Jerusalem. There the nation’s leaders, the chief priests, and the teachers of the Law of Moses will make me suffer terribly. I will be killed, but three days later I will rise to life.'” Mat 16:21-22

The first step in a finishing well (or a leaving) transition, is to be in tune with the Lord and walk in harmony with him. If your ear is a tune with your Father in heaven then your heart can come to a place of peace so that when those moments happen, such as Jesus’ struggle in Garden of Gethsemane you can finish well even when those around you are struggling to.

The second step is to tell those around you concerning the transition at the appropriate time, giving them time to process and express their feelings and emotions while keeping them on track with the truth of your transition. This is the toughest part of a finishing well (or leaving) transition for you are putting the emotional, spiritual and physical needs of others before your own.

Well, are going to stop there for today giving us all time to grasp this first phase of the finishing well (or leaving) transition. Join me next time as we continue in Matthew as we look at the second phase Jesus took to finish well as he prepared to leave his ministry here on earth.
