Finishing Well Transition ~ Comfort

13 11 2012

Last time we talked about the second phase of the finishing well transition, trusting God in the preparation.  Today we look at the third and final stage ~ comfort in leaving.

Jesus therefore, seeing his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, says to his mother, Woman, behold thy son. Then he says unto the disciple, Behold thy mother. And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home. After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now finished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, says, I thirst.

Joh 19:26-28

As Jesus hung on the cross he left thoughts of ministry and turned once again to his close friends and family. We don’t have to say good-bye with pomp and circumstance, rather we need to allow those sacred moments to happen naturally, as we see this tender moment with his mother and the disciple he loved.

To finish well is to encourage all things to move forward as with giving Mary a son to comfort and care for her and John an enduring and comforting connection to his family.

We must allow the sacred to be enough as we finish well. I hope we can climb off the platforms and walk up the hills of transition embracing the comfort the Lord desires to provide.

Join me next time as we finish this series on transition as we look at Jesus’ encounter with his disciples after his resurrection. There is life and relationship after transition!
