Undivided Commitment

Elisha

We are beginning a new series called A Life like Elisha. He teaches us many lessons. The first is how to respond to new assignment when they come (September 28, responding to New Assignments), the second is undivided commitment.

If you read 2 Kings 2 you will find a curious group of verses as Elisha follows Elijah to the moment when he is taken up to heaven. Elijah goes from Gilead to Bethel where he releases Elisha, then they go on to Jericho, releasing him again and finally Elisha follows him all the way to the Jordan River. These verses remind us of the commitment of Ruth to Naomi as God shows us the undivided commitment of Elisha to the call God gave him through the prophet Elijah.

Elisha reveals how to have a vital walk with undivided commitment. Even when Elijah releases him, he has not been released by God and so he goes on. We must stay the course right to the end for as we come to the end, God’s glory, grace and blessings are revealed. What allowed Elisha to stay committed was knowing this was where he was suppose to be, and following Elijah was what he was suppose to do.

In these days when people are falling away left and right having an undivided commitment to the Lord and his calling.

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie
