Faithful and Obedient to the Bone!

5 11 2013

ElishaThis is the final post in the series: A Life like Elisha. His life teaches us many lessons. To begin this series go to September 28, Responding to New Assignments.  Today we see even after Elisha is dead and buried he is still affecting those around him, which is one of the earmarks of a man of faith.

To set the scene in 2 Kings 13:14 we see Elisha is very ill, before his death he speaks to the king of Israel about the enemy to the East and then Elisha dies and is buried.

“Once while some Israelites were burying a man, suddenly they saw a band of raiders; so they threw the man’s body into Elisha’s tomb. When the body Jeursalemtouched Elisha’s bones, the man came to life and stood up on his feet.”

2Ki 13:21

Reading this verse are you impacted by how God used Elisha even after death?  The legacy of faith lives on even in his bones. What kind of legacy will you be leaving? Though our bones may never raise someone from the dead, the legacy of your life can and does touch people for generations.

That son or daughter, that grand-child, the co-worker or neighbor you speak to in passing, you never know the legacy God intends to release long after your physical presence is gone. The key is staying in tune with God and allow him to use you however he wants to.

Even after his death Elisha’s faith and obedient was evident in his bones! Oh that you and I would have the faith and obedience of Elisha.
