Jeremiah, a Challenge to Believe

18 07 2014

I know the plans.. These words from Jeremiah 29:11 are both a challenge to believe and a promise to plant our faith in.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Jer 29:11 KJV

God first spoke these words to the Jews during their first captivity, in Babylon when God’s people were being deceived by false prophets who were rising up to speak into the people of Israel.

The things we have gone through are not in some cases unlike the captivity of the Jews. Good or bad those experiences are part of who we are today. We can choose to look back and turn into a pillar of salt as Lot’s wife did or we can look forward standing on the truth that God does love you, he has plans and a purpose for your life.

I love this verse in the NIV:

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jer 29:11

As you walk closer and closer with God allow yourself to trust and believe the promises God releases in your life and for those who have never had this Jeremiah 29:11 promised released into your life… today is that day, as you embrace the truth of both your captivity and the coming freedom of the new season!

Thanks for the encouragement. Jeremiah 29:11 is one of my favorite verses in the Bible. I just wrote an article about a man from my church who epitomized that verse. If you have a chance, check it out:
I would love to hear any thoughts you might have.
