Romans 8:35 – A Simple Choice?

4 08 2017

QuestionsIn this post, we are exploring this question… Who shall separate us from the love of Messiah?

Romans 8:35 reads: Who shall separate us from the love of Messiah? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?

What is Paul really asking us? He tells us that tribulations, distress, persecution all the bad things that happen to us by the hands of another, do not separate us from God’s love. He adds to this list, nakedness, danger, or sword, these things represent the absence of necessary good in our everyday lives. None of these separate us. Paul goes on to tell us in verse 38 that not even death can separate us from the love of God.rf123

Then who separates us from the Love of God? If it isn’t the events or people and clearly Paul shows us God loves us, then we have to look at ourselves.

What separates you and I (and the world) from the love of God is our denial of God and rejecting the gift of our Messiah. It is our choice to separate. If we choose by an act of our wills not to believe in God and receive by faith the gift of our savior, we separate ourselves from the love of God.

So the choices we make can shuts down our ability to receive the fullness of God’s love which is ever around us like the air we breathe.

As we go through life even after we have believed in our Messiah, we must choose to walk toward God by engaging with HIM, not turning or walking away from HIM in our daily lives. In making this simple choice we can receive the fullness of our Messiah’s love!

Blessings & Complete Joy!

Meaning of a Savior – part 5

4 12 2015

Is 9We are in a series Meaning of a Savior and last time we looked at the phrase “and the government will be on his shoulders”. Today we are turning a corner to look at the attributes (essential characteristics) of our Savior, the first of which is “Wonderful Counselor” as we continue to explore Isaiah 9:6.

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Isa 9:6

Attributes build understanding. Isaiah first explains who our savior is through phrases and then expanded our understanding through the use of attributes so that we might trust and believe in the one who was sent to cleanse us from all our sin!

Looking at Yeshua (Jesus) as our wonderful counselor is to have someone who is willing to listen, not to just the greatJesus with boy on bench things, not just to the everyday grind of life, but also to listen to those things that hurt the most without judgment. As our wonderful counselor listens we are able to process our feelings in a safe environment and with his help we are able to make the changes physically, emotionally and spiritually that heal.

When we engage with our wonderful counselor we are able to look honestly and with a heavenly perspective at the events of our lives to release grace and healing!

Join me next time as we unpack the attribute of “Mighty God”.

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

Come Holy Spirit Come!

11 08 2012

In the next series of posts, we will explore what it means to move in the spirit. This will take us through Acts and into Romans and I Corinthians. Let’s begin at the beginning.

While he (Jesus) was still with them, he said: Don’t leave Jerusalem yet.

Wait here for the Father to give you the Holy Spirit,

just as I told you He has promised to do.

Acts 1:4 (CEV)

It is our choice to move in agreement with the Holy Spirit as part of our triune God. I know with all the differing beliefs out there it can be intimidating to think about. God is God and we are human with all the feelings and emotions that go with it.

The disciples were ask to wait, and as they expectantly waited I am sure they had many feelings much like a small child who is waiting to see if they get just what they wanted for Christmas. For some they are disappointed. When we come to the Holy Spirit with expectancy, rather that requirements we will not be disappointed!

I pray as we look at what it is to move in the spirit you shall be encouraged rather than disappointed.

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

State of Our Faith

3 07 2012

As we bring this series What is wrong with America’s faith to a close, I find myself reminded of several things.

Some of the things which influence our faith can be manipulated, like whether we go to church. Yet other things, like if our parents believed in Christ are beyond our control. What our parent believe and their faith gave us a baseline upon which we built our beliefs and our faith.

I grew up in a very religious non-Christian family, I learned at an early age there was a deity beyond me, even then I knew two things, this deity they served I did not desire to follow but this baseline of believing and serving a higher power went with me when at age of 17, I accepted Christ.

My parents, taught me a very important lesson, to believe in something beyond myself to the core of my being, this is the lesson that many who were born in the 1950’s received, without understand what that something really was.

The baseline of everyone’s faith has some sort of flaws because of the human condition. For me it is easy to see identify for my parent’s focus was off, for others it is something else, we can not allow ourselves to be so overwhelmed by what has happened in the past and encumbered by the actions of others that we just surrender our faith all together. We must be like the man who when faced with cancer rises up to overcome it.

We have to look at the state of our faith as well as the faith of our nation and rise above the mediocre and the human condition to take a stand for what we believe.

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

Struggle to Believe

20 03 2012

I have been waiting for a new computer and in the last week I finally got it. Before getting my new PC a good friend and supporter of Complete Joy Ministries gave me a 17 inch flat screen monitor. It was smaller than I wanted but I was so thankful for she saved me $150 dollars so I deposited the monitor in my office closet as a reminder one day the new PC would come.

A week ago we got the new PC and when I picked up the monitor it seemed bigger but I didn’t think anything of it. For a week the computer and monitor sat in my husband’s office as he installed programs and got the PC ready for me to use.

The computer was now ready and as I moved the box, monitor and keyboard into my office. looking at it again I was sure the monitor was larger and thought only God could have done this? Struggling with this possible miracle I asked my husband, what was the monitor size, he said it was the size I wanted, 21 inches. Still not sure if the monitor was larger, I ask my friend to come look at the monitor and she remarked it is larger and then told me she knew she purchased a 17 inch monitor for it was all she could afford. The next day still struggling, I measured the monitor and it was still 21 inches.

My struggle wasn’t if God could do this, but rather, why would he do this because I was ok with the 17 inch monitor. Now instead of resting and enjoying my new PC I struggled to believe he really did enlarge the monitor by 4 inches? It seems so meaningless, yet each day I am faced with the truth of a miraculous God who will not only grow a man’s leg 4 inches but also a computer monitor. A God who hears and knows our hearts desires and he will move in miraculous ways when we lease expect it, just because he loves us!

God I thank you for the gift of a larger monitor, may it and the PC be used to your glory!

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

God is Here with Us

3 03 2012

Last time we talked about the wing back chair and today we begin talking about the first of four lessons we learned about God.

The first lesson we will look at is: God is here with us. From the moment of creation God has been with us. There has never been a time when God wasn’t with us. From moment of your conception God was there. We may or may not acknowledge or perceive He is here, but the reality is He is here with us.

David in Psalms 139 said:

Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?

If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.

If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.

God is not bound by time and space, for His spirit is beyond us and so for each one of us, no matter where we are and no matter what we are doing. He is here with us!

Everyone responses to God’s presence differently, some are joyful, others rest in their daddy’s arms, while still others struggle with a loving God and fight to run away. Our response doesn’t detour God for He is patience, He is kind, He is not easily angered, He

always perseveres. If that sounds familiar it is because God is love, to meditate on your loving father visit the thirteen chapter of 1 Corinthians.

Visit me next time when we unlock the second of the winged back chair lessons, God wants a place in our lives and in our hearts!

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

Believing God will Answer

21 02 2012

Last time we talked about asking God. So when we have gotten up the courage to ask God, there is one more thing God asks us to do, believe and not doubt. We must believe he will answer us. Looking once again at James 1

“But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.”  James 1:6-7

To believe is to have a firm conviction. When it come to asking God, to believe means we have a firm conviction that he will answer. How firm is your conviction in God’s willingness to answer?

We must remember just as God’s love is unconditional, His willingness to answer is as well. When we doubt God will answer often we don’t believe God really loves and cares for us. Many Christians get mixed up when bad things happen thinking it is because God doesn’t love them.

When we doubt, we are tossed about emotionally and so we are like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. Our emotions left unchecked, often go where they have always gone, rather that having a firm conviction that even if the answer isn’t what we want to hear, God will answer us. Suddenly when we take this stand we are once again on dry ground with our eyes on our God, which allows us to be focused and able to hear from God.

To help us understand God’s unconditional love we need to understand fault vs. consequence, so join me next time.

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie
