Romans 8:35 – A Simple Choice?

4 08 2017

QuestionsIn this post, we are exploring this question… Who shall separate us from the love of Messiah?

Romans 8:35 reads: Who shall separate us from the love of Messiah? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?

What is Paul really asking us? He tells us that tribulations, distress, persecution all the bad things that happen to us by the hands of another, do not separate us from God’s love. He adds to this list, nakedness, danger, or sword, these things represent the absence of necessary good in our everyday lives. None of these separate us. Paul goes on to tell us in verse 38 that not even death can separate us from the love of God.rf123

Then who separates us from the Love of God? If it isn’t the events or people and clearly Paul shows us God loves us, then we have to look at ourselves.

What separates you and I (and the world) from the love of God is our denial of God and rejecting the gift of our Messiah. It is our choice to separate. If we choose by an act of our wills not to believe in God and receive by faith the gift of our savior, we separate ourselves from the love of God.

So the choices we make can shuts down our ability to receive the fullness of God’s love which is ever around us like the air we breathe.

As we go through life even after we have believed in our Messiah, we must choose to walk toward God by engaging with HIM, not turning or walking away from HIM in our daily lives. In making this simple choice we can receive the fullness of our Messiah’s love!

Blessings & Complete Joy!

Agreement and Brilliant Faith!

5 12 2014

bridge reflectionWe have been talking about walking in agreement with God and if you remember our story you know we were getting ready to write the check. The check is written and as we wait to execute the lease now the reality of what we need from God is setting in.

Part of stepping out in agreement is realizing how much God is real going to provide in the new season.

CJM is taking furniture for 54 square feet to begin furnishing three offices and 494 square feet. Not to speak of the common areas, a conference/work room and a reception area another 550 square feet.

It is a big project and so we must rely on our really big God. Yes, we are a faith-based non-profit, but that will take us only so far, God must provide and CJM must trust that when He (our really big God) casts a vision, He will see it through.jonah.and.the.whale.02

Knowing God sends us is what makes our faith brilliant even in the midst of the darkness. I think of Jonah who was sitting in belly of the whale. As Jonah allowed brilliant faith to overcome his humanness, God said to Jonah “Go to the great city of Nineveh and proclaim to it the message I give you.” Jonah 3:2.

Remember those words which your really big God used to engage and ignite your faith, let those words resound in you, allowing the brilliance of your faith to overcome the darkness so like Jonah you can say:

“But I, with shouts of grateful praise, will sacrifice to you. What I have vowed I will make good. I will say, ‘Salvation comes from the LORD.”

Jonah 2:9

Essence of Thanksgiving

20 11 2012

As Thanksgiving draws near, we are very much aware of the arrangements that must be made for the celebration. Grocery shopping, guests to be invited, travel arrangements to be confirmed,  and cooking of the bird. For most of us the machinery of Thanksgiving has already been set into motion, and in just a few days we will sit down to share a Thanksgiving supper. But as Christians we must ask, what is the inner meaning of this holiday? What is the fitting symbol of Thanksgiving?

According to Biblical witnesses thanksgiving is something we do when the troubles of the world are still very much with us. It’s not a question of waiting for that moment of euphoria when you seem to be carried away on a crescendo of good feelings.

To give thanks is to take up the tangled threads of our lives and present them to God come what may. Thanksgiving involves an act of the will. It’s not a question of pretending that everything is bright and beautiful when you know it’s not.

Therefore a fitting symbol of thanksgiving is not the turkey on the table but sacrifice of praise around it!

Signs and Wonders

11 09 2012

As we continue our series moving in the spirit I find it curious that on September 11, 2012, eleven years to the day after America came directly under attach we are focusing in on signs and wonders!

“Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.” (Rom 15:19  CEV)

Signs and wonders are God’s evidence to humanity allowing them to taste and see that the Lord is good, then choose whether to come into relationship with Him.

For years I have watched as the Lord moved in people’s lives and because of God’s signs and wonders their friends skeptical at first, begin meeting with me and spending time with the Lord. They find freedom and a profound liberty under the grace of God. Some have found both physical and emotional healing!

People will come just to see signs and wonders, even if they don’t know or don’t believe in God. Like slowing down to see an accident on the freeway, they want to see what is going on.  Humanity is naturally curious. Allow the Lord to use you, connect with the Spirit of God and like Paul fully preach the gospel of Christ!

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

Am I too stressed to Be Blessed?

31 03 2012

Last time we talked about struggling with change. As we enter this new season, if we aren’t careful we can find ourselves too stressed by all the change to recognize God’s blessings. If all our focus is on the change going on around us, then we may feel we aren’t being blessed by God. Which is far from the truth.

We must choose to focus on God, rather than on the stress of the change, because God means to become part of his blessing. Men often don’t see change as a blessing. My husband always said that change has three effects and two of them are bad. But is that really the case?

When we perceive change as a bad thing, then we will only see the bad, and when we see only the bad, we will always miss the blessings of God. Imagine if you were one of the Israelites and you were standing at the Red Sea watching as the Egyptians approached. You had experienced so much change and now this. Would you have seen your situation as a blessing and yet as Moses raised his hands not only did the Red Sea part for you to cross, but also swallowed up the Egyptians as the sea returned.

When we are in the middle of change, that isn’t the time to assess the blessing, it is time to be so focused on God that you will be delivered to the other side!

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

Keys to Believing!

17 03 2012

Recently I met my prayer partner, Rebecca, for lunch. Usually we pray on the phone together once a week, but today we wanted to pray in person because our needs were more pressing. She was sitting in her car when I arrived, so we both go out of our cars to go into the restaurant. After she closed the car door, suddenly she began checking her pockets and hunting in her purse for she realized she had locked her keys in the car. I told her not to worry that I would take her home as she had done for me in the past and we went on and had a nice lunch.

As we finished eating we took time to pray together, Rebecca prayed for me and then I prayed for her, asking the Lord to do for my friend what He had on two occasions done for me, to put her keys which had been locked in the car into her pocket.

As we finished praying I share with Rebecca why I asked God to put her keys back in her pocket and how twice over the last three years after locking my keys in the trunk I asked God to put them in my pocket and he did. Both times in front of witnesses! So with anticipation she felt in the same pockets she had checked before we entered the restaurant and they were there!

James 1:6 tells; when we ask God we must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.  God put those keys back in my friend’s pocket because she believed!

God created the universe so moving a set of keys was no big deal, except to us!

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

God Wants a Place in our Lives and Hearts

6 03 2012

Last time we talked about the first winged back chair lesson, God is Here with us. Today we will move to the second lesson, God wants a place in our lives and in our hearts.

A month before the gathering the team was so excited to see the vision the Lord had, so to surprise them I showed up early to place chair on the platform. There alone,  I struggled with where to put it, did it go front and center or should it stand-off to the side? When it came down to it, God didn’t care, He just wanted to have a place. We forget, before He can come front and center in our lives, He has to have a place in our hearts, so don’t beat yourself up if God isn’t front and center in your life right now. The real question is; does He have a place in your live and in your heart at all?

That morning as I struggled to get the winged back chair up on the platform I forgot to make sure the chair was in perfect position for I was just thankful  it was there at all, serving to reminding us, we should always rejoice in His being in our hearts and in our lives.

When the morning of the gathering came someone else brought the chair to platform and as the preparation progressed the chair migrated to  the center of the platform as people added the table and the lamp and then the worship team prepared for the gathering. God was in charge of where the chair needed to be, and with our lives it is the same. If we give him a place in our lives, His place will naturally become the source for who we are.

So remember, it isn’t where God is in our lives, but that He is there that really matters!

Join me next time as we learn the third lesson, God love us just as we are.

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie
