Transition: Believe it or NOT part 1 – Mary

22 06 2017

Welcome to our topic Transition! Today we will look at the transition of Mary, the mother of Jesus recorded in Luke 1:26 – 38, as she receiving the news of the coming savior.

First, the angel of the Lord signals the beginning of Mary’s transition as she hears the words, “Greeting you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.” It is recorded that she was greatly or deeply troubled, other translations used the word disturbed. Transition as it begins is often alarming and can deeply trouble or disturb us. This is normal reaction and we need to remember to respond rather than to react.

Second the angel encouraged her, “not to be afraid and that she had found favor with God”. Often when facing transition, we like Mary, look at it as a bad thing and we become afraid. Encouragement as we face the idea of transition helps use all!

Third, we see Mary questioning God choice; does he really know what HE is doing? Transition causes us to question what God is up to, even if like Mary who knew the scriptures, we know God is going to do something. Our question still remains, but are we really who God wants to use?

Final we see the angel sharing the news about her relative Elizabeth who was also pregnant. Mary found the comfort to come into agreement with God’s plans and later direction in how to navigate the pregnancy, going to her relative’s home.

Remember as God begins a new thing in your life, HE will bring you guidance and encouragement!

Blessings & Complete Joy!

Welcome to Transition?

16 06 2017

TransitionToday we begin talking about transition with our post, Welcome to Transition! We will endeavor in this series to simplify transition as we look at the life of Christ who made one of the largest transitions first from God to Man, becoming the atonement for our sin as our Messiah (1Jn 2:2) and then back again from Man to God as our risen lord (Lu 24:34).

Let’s define what transition is: passage from one state to another, or to change.

Transition as with the birth of a child is both wonderful and painful at the same time. Any family, will tell you that. Whether we begin with Mary or Joseph, the parent of Yeshua, both were given time to transition, both were given time to ponder, to embrace or reject the truth and meaning of the transition. With time, a key element, they both came to embrace it allowing God to prepare them for the coming season of Messiah’s birth!

Through the life of our Messiah we see everyone must come to that place of embracing transition and understanding the struggle with feelings is an important part of building kingdom authority to walk successfully in the new season which transition ushers in!

Join me next time as we look at Mary in the post, transition believe it or not part 1!

Long Time No See!

8 06 2017

moveIt is hard to believe it has been 5 months since my last post! There was a time when doing two posts a week was the norm. For my long time readers, I am still here.

Since 2013, my priorities have changed quite a bit and with the changes my time has become a precious thing. CJM has gone from no office, using my pastor’s office, to now having over 1200 feet of office space which includes a conference room for holding classes. To that in the last 4 months we have added an office in Salem at Salem House of Prayer on Wednesdays! Little did I know things were going to blossom and grow the way they have!

I am writing this blog to renew my commitment to posting once a week. This first post is just one to catch up and say, surprise I am back!

Join me next week when  I will be writing my 250 words on Transition, Believe or Not!

In Yeshua,

Millie

Entering the New Season – part 3 Don’t Dwell in the Past

19 01 2017

2017Last time we looked at the key of Forgetting in our series of how to enter the new season, today we look at the second key. Dwelling and where we are to dwell as we continue in Isaiah 43.

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.

See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?

I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

Isaiah 43:18-19

Let us define the word dwell:

  • Live in or at a specified place.
  • Think, speak, or write at length about (a particular subject, especially one that is a source of unhappiness, anxiety, or dissatisfaction).

Once we forget the former things, we have to stop living there. We have to come out of the past. 2 Cor 5:17 needs to be ever before us in 2017, for those who accept Yeshua as Messiah are dwellinga new creation, the old has gone and the new is here! So you and I must resist our internal voice of the past which brings condemnation, that voice of mom, dad or other authority figure. There is a spark of truth which still hurts. That isn’t the devil. It is the past. You must take authority over the pain and hurt of the past, deal with the pain when God calls you to, and forget the former things walking completely with every ounce of your body, soul and spirit into the new thing!

I pray for each of you, I see the Lord blessing you, I see the Lord’s grace being poured out upon your past, that in that place of grace the peace of God which passes all understanding will guard your heart and mind in Yeshua Messiah as you walk into the new things which await you in 2017!

Join me next time as we look at the new thing God is doing in your life!

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

New Season Keys – forgetting

12 01 2017

2017Last time we began the series on how to enter the new season.  Today we look at the first key to entering the new season, that of forgetting the former things as we look at Isaiah 43:18.

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.

See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?

I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

Isaiah 43:18-19

To forget is to put out of our remembrance. Another definition is to cease from doing.  So to forget requires us to take the consequence action of letting go. We have to admit we are holding on to something or someone in our past.

As 2016 came to a close I found myself taking up bowling, something I had done very well for many years. Then I was strong and I bowlingcould bowl very well. I was on traveling leagues and carried at one time over a 190 average. I even married my bowling instructor.

But coming back to bowling in 2016 found a 59 year old woman struggling not to fall down. I found myself having to forget the former things. I could no longer use a 15 pound bowling ball and use a 5 step approach, choosing instead to purchase an 11 pound bowling ball which almost throws me and taking just 4 steps, hoping not to fall down.

The goals in bowling are different in 2017. They are to have fun with my husband and friends and to get some exercise, not to have a high average, win prizes and bowling on leagues.

As I look at bowling, I see God using it to remind me HE is doing a new thing, in every area of my life.  I have to forget the former things.  As I let go of the past and in bowling the 190 average, I am able to have fun and enjoy life!

Join me next time as we look at not dwelling on the past and the three areas that trip us up!

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

2017 – See I am doing a New Thing

5 01 2017

2017Is there any question we are entering a new season as we come to 2017? As I pondered the word for 2017 I found myself focused on Isaiah 43, especially verses 18 – 19.

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.

See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?

I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

Isaiah 43:18-19

To fully understand these words of Isaiah, context is key! Context is who is speaking and why.

Looking at Isaiah 43; these words are spoken by God to Israel, his chosen people. He speaks of being the one who created Jacob and Israel. He is affirming them as He reminds them of what He has done and why they are His witnesses and as such they should trust him.

To this point these words in Isaiah 43 were spoken to edify God’s chosen people. The greatest thing we can do in faith is to remember who God is. Remembering who God is creates the foundation of trust upon which God can build you and I into whom He intends us to be.

Take time to reflect on what He has done in your life and remember where you have come from, and what He has brought you through.

Join me next time as we look at verse 18 which is the key to embracing the new thing God is doing in your life!

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

Temptation and the Kingdom of Heaven

24 11 2016

changeToday we are talking about temptation and Kingdom of Heaven through James 1:13 – 15. Temptation is all around us, I was tempted as I look at writing this post just to let it slide another week, as I had done for months, I didn’t so here we are looking tempation.

No one being tempted should say, “I am being tempted by God.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, and God himself tempts no one.  Rather, each person is being tempted whenever he is being dragged off and enticed by the bait of his own desire.  Then, having conceived, the desire gives birth to sin; and when sin is fully grown, it gives birth to death.  Don’t delude yourselves, my dear brothers.  James 1:13-15

Webster’s dictionary defines temptation: to entice to do wrong by promise of pleasure or gain. So temptation is an action taken to engage our will (our right to choose) to act in a self gratifying way resulting in wrong choices and short-term gain and for many long-term guilt and shame.

If we look at my temptation not to write this post, the temptation was to spend time with my husband watching TV or choose to come temptationinto my cold office on Thanksgiving morning and press into God believing something of value would result. As I pondered my choice I realized not to go into my office would have put off the inevitable, sitting down and writing about temptation, something everyone knows about, but seldom talks about because it brings with it personal responsibility, and who wants that on Thanksgiving!

Temptation is a natural part of being human as we exercise our right to choose. We are all going to make good choices and resisting temptation while on other days we will be overcome by temptation and make those dreaded bad choices we wish we hadn’t made. Praise God for Yeshua who made the choice to die, taking away the sins of the world!

Join me next time as we delve into James 1:13, looking at this truth, God doesn’t tempt us.

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie
