Job and a Sovereign God

8 09 2017

bible_jobThis week’s post begins a three-part series on the final chapter of Job 42.

The book of Job is comprised of 42 chapters recounting the story of the suffering of Job, a righteous man. Just as the final chapter of Job has three parts, Job is joined by three friends and three cycles of debate ensue before God himself enters the picture in chapter 40 as he begins revealing the real issue is not the suffering of a righteous man but the sovereignty of a mighty God. This revelation is where chapter 42 begins.

Job 42 is comprised of three parts. Part 1 is Job’s response to God, part 2 is God’s speaking to Job’s friends and part 3 is Job’s restoration.

We want to look at the two preceding chapters of Job in this first post because God has been talking to Job and helps him understand God is sovereign.

Sovereign by definition is: to have or possess supreme or ultimate power and authority. God has supreme/ultimate power and authority. This is something mankind has wrestled with since our creation. We grumble trying to find reasons for everything. As I look at Texas, some will look and judge its citizens. I cannot, rather I look at a sovereign God who allowed the winds to churn up and the rains to pour down upon the lone star state. I look upon the same sovereign God who limited the hand of Satan in Job’s life, and who is still controlling where the winds blow and rain fall.

Join me in praying for our nation and the natural disasters our nation is currently facing, from wild fires in the West to hurricanes and flooding in the East, then join me next week as we look at Job 42!

Blessings & Complete Joy!

Millie

How to MOVE in the new season, part 3

11 03 2016

moveThis is the third post in our series How to MOVE in this new season.  Today we are unpacking the O for obedient in our acrostic MOVE.

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

2Co 10:5

Obedient is the choice we make whether to submit to control or guidance.

The student makes the choice when he/she walks into a classroom whether to submit to their teacher control and guidance, just as a child chooses to respond obediently to the correction/control of a loving parent.

Obedience is the ultimate choice. As a nation we have chosen to remove the 10 commandments from our public spaces. We set ourselves, our wants, our hopes and our desires against the knowledge of God and abandoning God as we refuse tofather daughter take our thought life captive, resulting in lives which are pulled to and fro by every passing wind.

Obedience to Christ in this season will bring us to a higher level of functionality, as we  embrace our Lord who is a good God, rather than revolting against the vindictive God once preached from pulpits across our nation and around the world in hopes to control people to walk obediently with their maker.

To be obedient to Yeshua (Christ) is a conscious choice, one I embrace with both hands, my whole heart and every brain cell I have! I know as I take every thought captive God will sift my thought life, purifying my motives so I can function to a higher level in this season!

Join me next time when unpack the next key to moving in the new season, V for victory.

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

Meaning of a Savior – part 4

27 11 2015

Is 9are in a series Meaning of a Savior and last time we look at Yeshua (Jesus) God’s precious son given to us and today we are going to at the third phase of Isaiah 9:6, “and the government will be on his shoulders”.

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Isa 9:6

To unpack this phrase “and the government will be on his shoulders” we need to understand what government our Father is talking about in Isaiah. He is not talking about the government of men as the people in the time of Isaiah hoped. Even when Yeshua came they were looking for an earthly king, who would save them from the ternary of Roman dictatorship and because they were looking for this earthly king they didn’t recognize him.

You and I must examine what we are looking for in a Savior. Are we crosslooking for someone who will save us from our hurting marriage, from a government who is looking to everything but the one true God or are we looking for the one who save us from our own sin, destroying every door of the enemy who desires to destroy the kingdom of God within us!

We must look to this savior, who establishes within us his kingdom, his authority and  his government and his love!

Join me next time as we unpack the title of “Wonderful Counselor”.

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

Meaning of a Savior – part 2

13 11 2015

Is 9Last time we began the series, Meaning of a Savior and today we are going to unpack Isaiah 9:6 first phrase by phrase, then word by word as we look at Yeshua (Jesus) and who he is!

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Isa 9:6

We are tempted as we unpack this verse to overlook the first couple of phrases to get to the meat. Isaiah knew the importance of these first phrases so let’s unpack them too!

“For to us a child is born”, this first phase tells us several things about our savior. First, our savior is ours! We need to make our savior personal. The second is that our savior is real, because he was born just like you and I were, he wasn’tBaby beamed off of some space ship, sorry star trek fans. But he wasn’t. He was born in a manger. He lived the life of a child, he had dirty diapers and had to learn to walk and to talk. He had to deal with bullies and even being lost as a child.

This often overlook phrase reminds us our savior is real, as real as the fingers that are typing these words and your eyes that are reading this post. Our Savior, your savior and my savior, he is real. Let us rejoice as we meditate on the meaning of our savior, for he is indeed real and not some fictional character in a juice novel!

Join me next time as we unpack “to us a son is given”

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

The Great Grace Burger Journey to Joy!

29 09 2012

Recently I had a vision. It could be viewed in one of two ways, either as a Great Grace Burger or a Sin Sandwich.  I saw this vision as I struggled to resolve the residual anger and unforgiveness I had toward my husband.

At first I didn’t see anything, sensing only my foundational relationship with Christ, like the layer of mayonnaise which you find on most sandwiches!

I began confessing and repenting a years at a time followed then I watched as the Lord placing the blood of Jesus over everything.

As the blood of Jesus dripped down over my redeemed life-like the catsup in a hamburger, I saw everything from a new perspective and realized my life was forever changed. But I wasn’t finished yet, because the residual anger toward my husband was still there.

To make sure I forgave everyone including my husband and everything including any demonic interference I chose to forgive all of creation, what could it hurt. I wanted to cover everything. As I worked through the years, I found lots of residual unforgiveness in places I didn’t expect and finally came upon the source of the residual anger toward my husband.

I was face to face with the truth that I hated Portland, Oregon, the city I now lived in and my husband, whose job caused us to live here. As I forgave the people of Portland and then my husband for bringing me here, I felt joy and a totally redeemed life! As I rested,  I noticed what can only be described as a Big Mac, which I call the Great Grace Burger, built before my eyes!

Hours later with joy I shared with my husband and asked his forgiveness. There has been such peace in our house since that day and a deep sense of joy fills those dark corners of my life where residual anger and unforgiveness were hidden.

If you have residual anger and unforgiveness (or know someone who does) don’t waste another day, allow God to build you your own Great Grace Burger!

Reveals and Searches for the Greater Good

15 09 2012

Today in our series Moving in the Spirit, we transition from Romans and into I Corinthians to see the Holy Spirit revealing all things including the mind of God for the greater good.

God’s Spirit has shown you everything. His Spirit finds out everything, even what is deep in the mind of God. 1Co 2:10 (CEV)

Paul here is speaking to the Corinthians concerning what the Lord himself is willing to reveal. It is the Holy Spirit who makes the deep things known, revealing the heart of both man and God.

Recently I was asked to come and pray for a woman’s sick son, as I drove to her home the Holy Spirit revealed her fear about her son’s illness. After spending time praying for her son, the spirit lead me to gently ask about her fear and as she acknowledged the truth, the fear was released and she was free to care of her son.

Knowing that the Holy Spirit knows us inside and out can be intimidating, but we must walk into the maturity of Christ, accepting this truth and trusting he will use this information as God does, for the greater good!

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

Encourages and Prepares

4 09 2012

In our last post we looked at the importance of getting up and going when the Spirit move us and today we look at how the Lord as we are going will encourage and prepare us for what is to come.

Act 23:11  And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome.”

In my bible these words, Be of good cheer Paul are written in red, for it was Christ himself who came to encourage and prepare Paul for what lie ahead of him. If we look at the scripture we see the Jews conspired to kill him, but having been encouraged and prepared, Paul took things in stride and ask for his rights as a Roman citizen which took him ultimately to Rome as the Lord intended.

I wish I had a wonderful story to share here, but I don’t, so I ask my readers, do you? Is there a time when the Lord encouraged and prepared you to fact a really tough time in your life? Please write to me in the comments below, so the Lord might use you to encourage others!

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie
