Poor in Spirit – Kingdom of Heaven – part 3

5 08 2016

10606784_sWe are in a series about the Kingdom of Heaven. Today we are looking at the poor in Spirit!

Jesus speaking in Matthew 5:3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

At first glance these words blessed and poor seem to be polar opposites. They are use by our Messiah to awakens us to the truth we are all poor in spirit. We are not the spiritual giants we want to be, we are not God and yet the kingdom of heaven belongs to us.

Our Lord and Savior wanted us to know God isn’t looking for spiritual giants. He isn’t looking for everyone to be a Billy or Franklin Graham, or a Mother Teresa or a Cindy Jacobs. God is looking for the Susie the homemakers and the Joe the handyman’s who know they need a relationship with God and are willing to seek Everyday family cologeHim with all their hearts.

Our Messiah said to us, it is okay to mourn and it is okay to be meek. It is okay to hunger and thirst for righteousness and to be merciful. To have a pure heart and to be a peacemaker of great value in the Kingdom of Heaven.

In this day and age of the Hillary Clinton’s and the Donald Trump’s God is using these words to say to us, be who I created you to be for the Kingdom of Heaven belong to you!

Join me next time when we continue looking at the Kingdom of Heaven from Matthew 5 and the key of righteousness.

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

Letting Go of the Old Season

30 08 2011

Letting go is key to moving into this season of reconciliation and grace…

ECC 3:1 There is a time for everything,

and a season for every activity under heaven:

ECC 3:2 a time to be born and a time to die,

a time to plant and a time to uproot,

ECC 3:3 a time to kill and a time to heal,

a time to tear down and a time to build,

ECC 3:4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,

a time to mourn and a time to dance,

ECC 3:5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,

a time to embrace and a time to refrain,

ECC 3:6 a time to search and a time to give up,

a time to keep and a time to throw away,

ECC 3:7 a time to tear and a time to mend,

a time to be silent and a time to speak,

ECC 3:8 a time to love and a time to hate,

a time for war and a time for peace.

I love Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 as it pertains to entering into this new season, verse 6 states a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away. When we think of giving up, we in vision failure and throwing in the towel, yet here we see it is linked with letting go. We need to let go of everything that hinders us and then the sin that so easily entangles us (to read more about this please read the last post of my blog). It is a blessing to be able to let go, and in letting go of our bumps and bruise, we make room for the new!

Take time this week, read each verse and allow God to bring to mind whatever needs to let go. I had to let go of all the disappointment in the last season and as I did I freed myself to enter and embrace this new season with joy.

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

Letting God be in Control of Change

30 07 2011

Don’t you love when you’re reading a passage in the bible that you know and suddenly God entering in and you learn or are reminded of something new? Reading the story of Moses that happened to me, when I was reminded, if we let God control our change it will all work out.

Moses’ mother when faced with how to save the live of her child put him in a basket and allowed God to take control of where the basket floated and in this simple action, she saved her child.

Baby Moses couldn’t get out of the basket even if he had wanted to, unlike you and I, who as adults think we should be in control of change not realizing that sometimes change is like a speeding roller coaster, once we are on it, you can’t change seats or get off until it comes to a complete stop, so you have to endure every steep climb and hairpin turn.

After Pharaoh’s daughter found the baby, she sent someone to find his mother, giving Moses’ mother influence in his life for several more years before returning him back to the house of Pharaoh. God knew the heart of Moses’ mother and He made sure she still had influence over his life. This reminds me that I can trust God with the changes He makes to my life, for He loves me more than I can imagine and has the best in store for me.

As we close this post I am reminded that in allowing God to control Moses life his mother also saved her people and Moses fulfilled the purpose God created him for.

So pray with me: God we give you free reign in controlling our lives and we promise to keep our hands firmly on the hand rail of life’s roller coaster as you control the direction and outcome of every change which comes into our lives. In Jesus name we pray, amen

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Mildred

Having a Strong Heart Relationship with God Part 4

5 07 2011

The depth of love and its attributes are key to having a strong heart relationship with God. Looking once again at 1 Corinthians 13:4 – 8

Love is patient, love is kind.

It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.

It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.

Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails.

Last time we look at envy, boasting and pride, learning how love overcome feelings of envy, thoughts of boasting and moments of pride and affording us with a strong heart relationship with God.

Now we have come to the key turning point in love for as we keep no record of wrongs we release ourselves from being rude, self-seeking and easily angered enabling ourselves to walk in the depths of a strong heart relationship with God like our savior Jesus Christ.

Have you ever thought about why you are rude, often times it is because of being self focused or feeling someone else has wronged you. I know for me if love is the driving force in my day, I focus on God’s plans and purposes and I am not easily angered and I keep no record of wrongs.

So when I am rude to others, I know I am focused on myself and I must change my actions quickly because that is a sure sign that I am walking in opposition to a strong heart relationship with God. If I don’t stop then I can become trapped by keeping records of those who wronged me, falling victim to my own anger which can so easily follow.

What does this change of actions look like? It begins by asking God’s forgiveness for being self-seeking and rude to others and receiving His love in return. When I take this simple step, I find myself no longer rude, self-seeking or angry, and to my surprise joy wells up, loosening me from keeping a record of wrongs. Only then I am ready to enter back into a strong heart relationship with God, which allows me to do the right thing with the right motives, and ask for man’s forgiveness even if he can’t forgive.

Join me next time as we talk about not delighting in evil, rejoicing with truth and having a strong heart relationship with God.

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Mildred

Having a Strong Heart Relationship with God

25 06 2011

Reading in Ezekiel 16:30, God tell Jerusalem; “How weak-willed you are.” As I studied more about this passage I found that the weakness was in her heart relationship with God, causing her to be unfaithful.

In America, we see so much failure in our heart relationship with God. The result of not having a strong heart relationship with God is developing a rebellious and disobedient heart. This heart path leads many to become neither hot nor cold toward God and like the church of Laodicea in the book of Revelations, risking being spit out of the mouth of God.

In Deut 6:4 we see the first of many clues to having a strong heart relationship with God. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.”

This scripture speaks plainly on having a strong heart relationship with God. It begins with loving God with all you heart, and allowing you whole being to enter in to loving, becoming so enveloped by love of God that His love pulses through your very being, and you become truly sold out to God.

If each Christian did this how would our lives change, how would our families change and how would the world change? Personally I believe if we allow our heart relationships with God to become strong then our lives, families and world would be changed for the power which saved the world would be engaged and the world would respond!

Join me next time when we talk more about the power of Love and its role in building a strong heart relationship with God.

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Mildred

Walking in a New Season

21 06 2011

When thinking of walking in a new season of life, I think of my good friend Sue, who is getting married. She is looking at a new life with both a new husband and a young son, which they will care for and raise. Is she prepared for raising children again? Her three children are grown and now she is taking on the responsibility of both a new marriage and a new son.

I marvel as God weaves this new family together. Sue loves raising boys, so she welcomes this newest challenge of raising her husband’s grandson.

God knows what we need in the new seasons we are entering and we must have more than faith to succeed. We must believe that God will provide all we need. Sue is walking each step believing God will provide all her needs and is doing well.

I rejoice as this couple is committed to spending their lives together. They are not without problems, but they realize that together they can come through life’s challenges to the glory of God. They begin life in their first mission field, their grandson, who needs both a dad in his “Papa” and a mom in my friend Sue. God is giving this young boy something only God knew he needed, a mom to champion his needs and help in equipping him to be the man God intends.

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Mildred

Don’t be like a Computer – Forgive!

7 06 2011

Recently I learned a lesson on forgiveness while working on my computer. I had been working on blogs for a couple of hours and before beginning that process I was journaling on my computer.

I carefully closed all the blogs and saved them before turning off the computer, but when I got to my journal and the final window, I forgot I hadn’t saved it and said not to saving changes, losing all that I had written.

In the past I would have been heart-broken and would have tried to re-construct what I had written. It has been a process to realize I just have to let it go, but that morning it was different as I realized that computers are like people who can’t forgive.

Computers for the average person aren’t very forgiving.

One key stroke and all can be lost.

What a blessing it is when you and I forgive. Forgiveness isn’t a do over, rather it is, saying,  “I know you are human and you make mistakes just like me.” Some times forgiving is simple, like if a toddler doesn’t say, “excuse me” when he/she push their way in the middle of your conversation, while other times, like when your boss forgets your human, it is more of a challenge to forgive.

That morning, I had to choose to forgive myself for being human and leave it at that, what about you?

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Mildred
