Poor in Spirit – Kingdom of Heaven – part 3

5 08 2016

10606784_sWe are in a series about the Kingdom of Heaven. Today we are looking at the poor in Spirit!

Jesus speaking in Matthew 5:3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

At first glance these words blessed and poor seem to be polar opposites. They are use by our Messiah to awakens us to the truth we are all poor in spirit. We are not the spiritual giants we want to be, we are not God and yet the kingdom of heaven belongs to us.

Our Lord and Savior wanted us to know God isn’t looking for spiritual giants. He isn’t looking for everyone to be a Billy or Franklin Graham, or a Mother Teresa or a Cindy Jacobs. God is looking for the Susie the homemakers and the Joe the handyman’s who know they need a relationship with God and are willing to seek Everyday family cologeHim with all their hearts.

Our Messiah said to us, it is okay to mourn and it is okay to be meek. It is okay to hunger and thirst for righteousness and to be merciful. To have a pure heart and to be a peacemaker of great value in the Kingdom of Heaven.

In this day and age of the Hillary Clinton’s and the Donald Trump’s God is using these words to say to us, be who I created you to be for the Kingdom of Heaven belong to you!

Join me next time when we continue looking at the Kingdom of Heaven from Matthew 5 and the key of righteousness.

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

Meaning of a Savior – part 5

4 12 2015

Is 9We are in a series Meaning of a Savior and last time we looked at the phrase “and the government will be on his shoulders”. Today we are turning a corner to look at the attributes (essential characteristics) of our Savior, the first of which is “Wonderful Counselor” as we continue to explore Isaiah 9:6.

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Isa 9:6

Attributes build understanding. Isaiah first explains who our savior is through phrases and then expanded our understanding through the use of attributes so that we might trust and believe in the one who was sent to cleanse us from all our sin!

Looking at Yeshua (Jesus) as our wonderful counselor is to have someone who is willing to listen, not to just the greatJesus with boy on bench things, not just to the everyday grind of life, but also to listen to those things that hurt the most without judgment. As our wonderful counselor listens we are able to process our feelings in a safe environment and with his help we are able to make the changes physically, emotionally and spiritually that heal.

When we engage with our wonderful counselor we are able to look honestly and with a heavenly perspective at the events of our lives to release grace and healing!

Join me next time as we unpack the attribute of “Mighty God”.

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

The Great Grace Burger Journey to Joy!

29 09 2012

Recently I had a vision. It could be viewed in one of two ways, either as a Great Grace Burger or a Sin Sandwich.  I saw this vision as I struggled to resolve the residual anger and unforgiveness I had toward my husband.

At first I didn’t see anything, sensing only my foundational relationship with Christ, like the layer of mayonnaise which you find on most sandwiches!

I began confessing and repenting a years at a time followed then I watched as the Lord placing the blood of Jesus over everything.

As the blood of Jesus dripped down over my redeemed life-like the catsup in a hamburger, I saw everything from a new perspective and realized my life was forever changed. But I wasn’t finished yet, because the residual anger toward my husband was still there.

To make sure I forgave everyone including my husband and everything including any demonic interference I chose to forgive all of creation, what could it hurt. I wanted to cover everything. As I worked through the years, I found lots of residual unforgiveness in places I didn’t expect and finally came upon the source of the residual anger toward my husband.

I was face to face with the truth that I hated Portland, Oregon, the city I now lived in and my husband, whose job caused us to live here. As I forgave the people of Portland and then my husband for bringing me here, I felt joy and a totally redeemed life! As I rested,  I noticed what can only be described as a Big Mac, which I call the Great Grace Burger, built before my eyes!

Hours later with joy I shared with my husband and asked his forgiveness. There has been such peace in our house since that day and a deep sense of joy fills those dark corners of my life where residual anger and unforgiveness were hidden.

If you have residual anger and unforgiveness (or know someone who does) don’t waste another day, allow God to build you your own Great Grace Burger!

Letting the Sunrise in 2012!

3 01 2012

One morning while bringing packages in from the car, my husband said, “You will want to go out and look at the sunrise, it is amazing”.

I went outside and saw the most amazing colors of red, orange and blue and as I marveled at the beauty of the sunrise, my spirit began to sing. This is the day the Lord has made I will rejoice and be glad in it! As I turned to walk back into my home I remembered someone once telling me, it is the pollution which makes the colors of the sunrises and the sunsets so brilliant.

Closing the door, I began thinking about how our personal lives can do the same thing, when we allow God to touch our personal pollution, for when he does he heals us and changes us, revealing His glory and grace.

It takes stepping out in trust and faith. It takes believing that God is truly bigger and can handle those things we couldn’t and sometimes still can’t handle. God is like the sky, he surrounds us and yet he allows our sin to affect our atmosphere, so that when we allow his glory to heal and change us, the brilliance of His glory is on display for all to see!

In 2012 let God touch your personal pollution to heal and change you, so that through you He can reveal His glory and grace!

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

Eternal Healing

5 11 2011

Often events bring us face to face with our past and how we deal with it is a mark of the amount of healing we have.

Earlier this week everyone celebrated Halloween and instead of getting upset about it I told people I don’t celebrate Halloween, just as some people don’t celebrate Christmas or other holidays.

I had someone even say they were sorry and tried to give me some Halloween candy. I said thank you but that I didn’t want any and smiled as I left, feeling a huge victory in my life.

In years past as I struggled to work through the trauma associated with Halloween I would either hide out or become so upset causing everyone around me to walk on pins and needles.

The think of the alcoholic who spends times with friends and family on New Years Eve and said; no to alcohol without saying they are a recovering alcoholic and asking others not to drink around them so they won’t slip out of their sobriety.

The true mark of eternal healing is when you and everyone else can be themselves no matter the situation.

I challenge you to work through the old traumas allowing them to pass away that the new life in Christ might come!

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

Respond Swiftly

1 11 2011

Recently I was reminded of how important it is to respond swiftly to the Lord. As I traveled to church that morning, I sensed the Lord saying to me. “I want you to turn around and go back home.” I questioned if it was the Lord’s voice and said stupidly, “why” as I went on to church. Later when my rib began to hurt severely I decided it was time to go home reminding myself this is what I should have done in the first place.

When I went out to drive myself home I found my car wouldn’t start. Several of the men of the church even tried to jump the car, but I ended up having to call roadside assistance. If I had gone home when the Lord warned me to, I would never have gotten stranded, but I chose to question God rather than responding swiftly.

It is imperative to respond swiftly to the Lord and with total commitment.  I want to share the end of the story, for it reminds us that all things work together for good.

It took more than a day for the car to be repaired and during that time I struggled with a streamer trunk full of regrets which held me in bondage. These regrets were car related going back to college. The greatest of these regrets was totaling my car in college which changed the course of my life. Because of my injuries, I got married at 19 instead of becoming a professional bowler and getting married at 25, as I always planned to do. I had to come to grips with the choices I had made, for better or worst. I rejoice for this steamer trunk full of regrets is no more.

These events remind me how important it is to move when God said to move even when it doesn’t make any sense, my case it would have spared me a steamer trunk full of regrets.

Remember always respond swiftly to the voice of the Lord!

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

Who would you give up your healing for?

4 10 2011

Often in life we come to those pivotal days of choosing between our needs and the needs of someone else. I had been healing nicely as I was faced with that decision, choosing between doing what was best for my healing and supporting my husband.  Spouses often fall into co-dependent behavior and jump in without much thought, but this was not one of those days.

My husband’s cousin died, and with his passing my husband became the eldest male in his Japanese family, so it was important for him to be available to support his grieving family by attending the memorial. I knew if I told my husband how the 6 hour car trip might endanger my healing that he wouldn’t allow me to go with him. Did he know what the cost to my healing might be? Probably, yet we both knew he needed me to go with him, so I went.

Even taking the best care I could to protect my ribs as we drove from Portland to Seattle, I woke up early the next morning in pain. I made it to the spa and on to church. The following day the pain was even worse and for the first time I couldn’t get to the gym to sit in the spa. It was then I realized I had lost about 2 weeks worth of healing. The morning of the third day I began grieving the loss as I sat in the spa, having endured a second night of little sleep.

Sometimes we need to let go of our needs knowing full well it may cost us dearly, but I want you to know, seeing my husband able to get to the memorial and be with his grieving family made it all worth it and there are times when our needs and even our pain don’t matter in the larger scheme of things.

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie
