New Season Keys – forgetting

12 01 2017

2017Last time we began the series on how to enter the new season.  Today we look at the first key to entering the new season, that of forgetting the former things as we look at Isaiah 43:18.

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.

See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?

I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

Isaiah 43:18-19

To forget is to put out of our remembrance. Another definition is to cease from doing.  So to forget requires us to take the consequence action of letting go. We have to admit we are holding on to something or someone in our past.

As 2016 came to a close I found myself taking up bowling, something I had done very well for many years. Then I was strong and I bowlingcould bowl very well. I was on traveling leagues and carried at one time over a 190 average. I even married my bowling instructor.

But coming back to bowling in 2016 found a 59 year old woman struggling not to fall down. I found myself having to forget the former things. I could no longer use a 15 pound bowling ball and use a 5 step approach, choosing instead to purchase an 11 pound bowling ball which almost throws me and taking just 4 steps, hoping not to fall down.

The goals in bowling are different in 2017. They are to have fun with my husband and friends and to get some exercise, not to have a high average, win prizes and bowling on leagues.

As I look at bowling, I see God using it to remind me HE is doing a new thing, in every area of my life.  I have to forget the former things.  As I let go of the past and in bowling the 190 average, I am able to have fun and enjoy life!

Join me next time as we look at not dwelling on the past and the three areas that trip us up!

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

Repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is Near!

29 07 2016

10606784_sWe are in a new series about the Kingdom of Heaven. Today we are looking at how repentance is key to the kingdom of heaven coming near!

Matthew writes: From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”

Matthew 4:17

Let’s set the stage, in the beginning of chapter 4 Yeshua had been tempted by Satan in the desert, then upon his return he learned of John the Baptist jailing. As a man, think of all the emotions he was feeling. He did the best thing, and stepped away.

Yeshua could have chosen to be mad at man, mad at God or mad at Satan. He chose to do12490293_s none of the above. Yeshua knew he had to stay focused. We forget that, choosing instead to walk into anger and away from the kingdom of Heaven, as we break relationship with  our God. Remembering even righteous anger turns into sinful behavior.

I say all this because in these days people (including those who are believers) are going to do things which you have the right to be angry about, because they wronged you, or hurt someone you care about.

It is not if we will get angry, for even Yeshua revealed his anger toward the money changers in the temple. But when your anger turns into sinful behavior, repent and walk back into relationship with God for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!

Join me next time when we look at the Kingdom of Heaven from Matthew 5:3 and the poor in spirit

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

David’s God

24 07 2012

Last time we looked at God who guides David, giving him knowledge in the night, today we look at where God stands in David’s life.

Psa 16:8  I have put the Lord before me at all times; because he is at my right hand,

I will not be moved.

This statement of the Lord being before him and also at his right hand at the same time is curious at first glance, yet if we think deeper, what David is saying is the Lord goes before him, leading the way while he also understands the Lord is helping him hence the Lord is also at his right hand.

Often I ask for the Lord to lead, direct and guide me as I meet with a client, helping them work through issues. When the Lord goes before me, I see him lighting the way, bringing emphasis to something a client said, allowing me to know where the Lord wants us to work. He is the clients greatest partner and he is the reason they find freedom.

In our daily lives we must allow the Lord to lead, direct and guide us, lighting the way and bringing emphasis to what is really important. We must stand firm and allow this relationship with the Lord no matter what others around us might do!

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

David’s Inheritance

17 07 2012

As we look at the value David put on God through Psalm 16 we come to verses 3 – 5 where David contrasts the lives of other saints who have fallen way to serve other gods with his own choice to follow the Lord.

Psa 16:3  But to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight.

Psa 16:4  Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips.

Psa 16:5  The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.

David remembered and honored his relationship with God in verse five, empowering him to stand firm.

How hard it is when our friends or family members choose to run after other gods. In David’s day, the other god was Baal today the other god’s our friends and family are turning to have other more familiar names, new age or money to name just a few.

David reminded himself the Lord is his inheritance, his cup, and his lot. David was all in, without reservation choosing the Lord. As we face these days of turmoil we must do the same empowering ourselves to stand firm in every situation.

If you go to the Equip page of this blog and scroll down to the bottom, just above the comments, you will find a wonderful daily prayer (highlighted in purple) to help you choose the Lord each and every day!

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

What has Gone Wrong with America’s Faith?

16 06 2012

Have you ever woke up with a question, and as the day progress have the question loom larger and larger within you. The question I have been pondering is: What has gone wrong with America’s Faith.

Over the next several blogs, we will be talking about the love of God and how our faith can get off track. As we begin this series of posts we must have the meaning of two very important words, Accept and Receive, for these are key to what has gone wrong with our faith.

To accept love, is to endure without protest, to understand, while to receive love is to allow it to enter, through your mind or senses. Two very different and yet similar concepts. We can accept love on the surface, the easy thing, or we can do the hard thing, allowing the love of God to make a difference.

Join me next time as we talk about how accepting God’s love isn’t enough!

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

On the Night He was Betrayed

3 04 2012

As we enter Holy week, celebrating the death and resurrection of our Savior, we must take time to not only think about salvation, but also reflect on Christ the perfect man who finished well, giving us the courage and inspiration to become the men and women God created us to be.

As I look at these words in I Corinthians 11:23 and think of Jesus Christ, the perfect man, who knowing full well what faced him, courageously chose to walk the path his Father in Heaven marked out for him.

We think of Gethsemane and Christ sitting at the rock with blood like sweat dripping from his brow as the moment of choice when in reality his choice was secured as he spoke to his disciples.  Christ knew the importance of speaking of things which aren’t as if they were, preparing both himself and his disciples for his impending death.

In the upper room as Christ instituted communion, inviting us to always remember his sacrifice we also see the truth that before Gethsemane, before the 39 lashes, before the cross and his crucifixion, Christ chose to follow God’s plan no matter the cost.

May you be inspired and find courage as you celebrate this Easter to become whom God created you to be!

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

Lessons about God from a Winged Back Chair

28 02 2012

Recently CJM (Complete Joy Ministries) hosted the Igniting the Kingdom ~ the Shalom Blessing gathering here in Portland, Oregon. We placed a wing backed chair on the platform next to a table and lamp. I had seen this picture in my mind for months and so when God provided it I was excited.

As we put things together I fought with the chair for it wasn’t what I wanted, it wasn’t pretty enough, it wasn’t in the greatest of shape, but God provided it, so we went with it. I was amazed as these four lessons came out of this wing backed chair and over the next couple of blogs we will be talking about each one individually.

God is here with us.

God wants a place in our lives and in our hearts.

God love us just as we are.

God accepts and welcomes change.

The night before the gathering as I prepared and prayed the Lord convicted me if I got tired I had to allow myself to sit in the chair to conserve my energy which was tough since this chair was a reminder that God was there at the gathering.

During the gathering I extended this invitation to those who attended to come and sit in there daddy’s lap, the lap of God. The picture you see is of the chair and one of the attendees who sat in the chair during the Friday night session.

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie
