Transition: Believe it or NOT part 1 – Mary

22 06 2017

Welcome to our topic Transition! Today we will look at the transition of Mary, the mother of Jesus recorded in Luke 1:26 – 38, as she receiving the news of the coming savior.

First, the angel of the Lord signals the beginning of Mary’s transition as she hears the words, “Greeting you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.” It is recorded that she was greatly or deeply troubled, other translations used the word disturbed. Transition as it begins is often alarming and can deeply trouble or disturb us. This is normal reaction and we need to remember to respond rather than to react.

Second the angel encouraged her, “not to be afraid and that she had found favor with God”. Often when facing transition, we like Mary, look at it as a bad thing and we become afraid. Encouragement as we face the idea of transition helps use all!

Third, we see Mary questioning God choice; does he really know what HE is doing? Transition causes us to question what God is up to, even if like Mary who knew the scriptures, we know God is going to do something. Our question still remains, but are we really who God wants to use?

Final we see the angel sharing the news about her relative Elizabeth who was also pregnant. Mary found the comfort to come into agreement with God’s plans and later direction in how to navigate the pregnancy, going to her relative’s home.

Remember as God begins a new thing in your life, HE will bring you guidance and encouragement!

Blessings & Complete Joy!

Eternal Healing

5 11 2011

Often events bring us face to face with our past and how we deal with it is a mark of the amount of healing we have.

Earlier this week everyone celebrated Halloween and instead of getting upset about it I told people I don’t celebrate Halloween, just as some people don’t celebrate Christmas or other holidays.

I had someone even say they were sorry and tried to give me some Halloween candy. I said thank you but that I didn’t want any and smiled as I left, feeling a huge victory in my life.

In years past as I struggled to work through the trauma associated with Halloween I would either hide out or become so upset causing everyone around me to walk on pins and needles.

The think of the alcoholic who spends times with friends and family on New Years Eve and said; no to alcohol without saying they are a recovering alcoholic and asking others not to drink around them so they won’t slip out of their sobriety.

The true mark of eternal healing is when you and everyone else can be themselves no matter the situation.

I challenge you to work through the old traumas allowing them to pass away that the new life in Christ might come!

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

What are You Inviting into Your Life?

2 08 2011

Recently I led a group to the Portland Underground, confessing, repenting and asking forgiveness for the actions of our forefathers here in Portland for shanghai-ing men and in slaving women here in Portland from the 1800’s and into the mid 1900’s.

We spent 2.5 hours praying beneath Portland and saw God cleansing the underground as we simply desired reconciliation. We left feeling the presence of God and secure in His move in the underground of Portland.

Yet we found out the next day that 3 hours later another tour company brought a Ouija board down to the underground in hopes to connect with and empower the enemy beneath Portland. This chain of events got me thinking about; what do we invite into our lives. Do we go to bed seeing boogie monsters (so to speak) empowering the fears and phobia which can exist in our lives?  Doing this just empowers the enemy.

The next morning as I got up I chose to invite the Lord to rule and reign in my home and in my life, to be living and active changing the atmosphere and all who enter into it. It was amazing how in not empowering my own fears and phobias I changed how I perceived the day, so I am sure God can and will do the same for you!

Revelation – God’s plan, my purpose

12 04 2011

This is the last in the mini series on God’s plan, from the series Key of the Kingdom.

Recently while wrestling in my quiet time with the idea of walking back into what I thought was an old purpose, working more actively with the wounded body of Christ, the Lord began stirring old memories helping me to understand how for almost 20 years, I had been a traveling spiritual surgeon. I never realized this as I crisscrossing the country helping people find the freedom they desired with all their hearts.

Seeing this revelation helped me to understand why I always traveled in alone to work with both the client and their family all the while teaching and equipping the pastor or counselor how to do the work of ministry after I leave.

So much in my life is coming back into focus and my purpose is being renewed. I had walked away from this call on my life several years ago (for more information read some of my earliest blogs) when I was overwhelmed by my own trauma. I used to say to people who asked why I wasn’t currently doing ministry; I take to heart, “physician heal thyself”, little did I know how true this statement really was.

It has been almost 4 years since I first stepped away to focus on my own healing and today I watch as the Lord brings people to me who are in spiritual need once again and to my surprise I have had to find a place to begin meeting with clients again, opening an office so to speak.  I know it will be only matter of time before one of these people comes in with their therapist or pastor in tow and I will be on the road again, traveling as the spiritual surgeon God created me to be.

I am in awe as the Lord continues to reveal my past so that I can confidently walk into the OR’s (operating room’s) of the future with Him.

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Mildred

Passions stirring

15 03 2011

Heart and Spirit of Flag Worship presentation Logo

Is God stirring a passion in you?

Several of us involved in flag worship at church have felt the stirring of the Lord to prepare a teaching to present on flag worship. My friend Renee and I hadn’t really done much and then Sue, my other flag buddy went to visit a church for a school assignment where she found they used flags in worship.

Little did I know that here would become our first opportunity to share what the Lord was birthing in each of us. This body of believers is as hungry to worship the Lord as we are.

I say all of this for if the Lord is stirring something in your heart, then allow it to come forth and follow where the Lord leads! We have a date, two weeks from now to share our hearts and passion for worshipping the Lord, little did any of us know when we first picked up a flag to worship the Lord that it would take us into a ministry to the greater body of Christ.

Follow your passion and serve the Lord!

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Mildred

Seeing into the Mind of Christ, Psalm 22

15 02 2011

Listening to Psalms 22, the first verse contains the very words Christ spoke as he hung on the cross. “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” and as I read I found myself wondering could these be more than just David’s thoughts and words but also those of Christ?

These words were first recorded by David, an ancestor of Christ, and they also give us insight into the inner dialog of Christ during those final hours of his life. Could Christ have reminded himself that even though men scorn and despised him, hurling insult and shaking their heads, that Christ just as his forefather did, trusted the Lord and affirming that God had made him with the capacity to trust God from conception, giving  him further strength and comfort to finish well.

Hanging on the cross it isn’t hard to see Christ thinking the words recorded in verses 14 -15

“I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint.

My heart has turned to wax; it has melted away within me.

My strength is dried up like a potsherd,

and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth;

you lay me in the dust of death.”

Verse 18 records another event in the crucifixion: “They divide my garments among them and cast lots for my clothing.” Could Christ have been thinking after they removed his clothing the words recorded in verse 19 “But you, O LORD, be not far off; O my Strength, come quickly to help me.”

I can imagine after Christ looked at Mary his mother and then gave John instructions to care for her, how his thoughts might have wandered to the world and his hopes for his people in verse 23,

“You who fear the LORD, praise him!

All you descendants of Jacob, honor him!

Revere him, all you descendants of Israel!”

Then looking at the final verses could Christ have reflected on what the outcome of his sacrifice would be as people turn to the Lord and were reconciled to God. What comfort these thoughts would have given him allowing him in peace to give up his spirit finishing the purpose God had for his life!

Psalm 22 gives me a new understanding into the mind of Christ and what types of thoughts should go through my head when I face any trial which might come my way!

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Mildred

The Power of Words

1 02 2011

My work vest, reminding me as a pastor, I was there to serve, not to be served.

With a word the Lord created the world.

In 2007 some really destructive words were spoken over me by my boss which until recently I didn’t realize were still working to destroy me.

I arrived at church to lead prayer before our bible study, and as we finished my pastor began commenting on the vest I had on. I then told him, this was my work vest which I began wearing while leading work parties at the last church I served at, not realizing the significant of what was about to happen.

Sitting there in the same work vest I had on the day I was fired, He then said, “I want to tell you why I respect you so much.” As he spoke I was taken back to the last time words were spoken over me in my work vest, words that were still destroying me. As my pastor spoke words of life, it was as if my spirit was soaking up living water right from the hand of God.

I watched and listened as the Lord spoke life into areas that my pastor had no clue were only now slowing coming back to life. He used words that only the Lord could have put into his mouth, for they were some of the same words which four year prior has been used to destroy me, wounding me so powerful that I quit speaking into people lives for almost 2 years.

Scripture tells us that words can be sharper then a two edged sword and I had learned this first hand 4 years prior, now I experiencing how healing words could be, I marveled at how God was now cutting those destructive words off of me forever, cementing the truth of another scripture which tells us there is life and death in the tongue!

It is so hard to know what words to allow to touch your life; are they life giving, corrective, or are they destructive.

God I thank you for the power of words. Let us see the power to create and use our words wisely!

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Mildred
