Moving Forward

7 08 2015

No Fear signIn this new season we must move forward, we must press in and watch the hand of God move!

As you do allow these words from Psalm 27 lead you!

Psa 27:1  Of David.

The LORD is my light and my salvation–whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life–of whom shall I be afraid?

Psa 27:2  When the wicked advance against me to devour me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall.

Psa 27:3  Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident.

Psa 27:4  One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.

Psa 27:5  For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock.

Psa 27:6  Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at his sacred tent I will sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the LORD.

Psa 27:7  Hear my voice when I call, LORD; be merciful to me and answer me.

Psa 27:8  My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, LORD, I will seek.

Psa 27:9  Do not hide your face from me, do not turn your servant away in anger; you have been my helper. Do not reject me or forsake me, God my Savior.

Psa 27:10  Though my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will receive me.

Psa 27:11  Teach me your way, LORD; lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors.

Psa 27:12  Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, spouting malicious accusations.

Psa 27:13  I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.

Psa 27:14  Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.

Blessings,

Millie

Maturity through Obedience

22 05 2015

11087581_sWe are in a series called maturity in our ever shifting atmosphere.  Last time we explored God-given maturity through relationship. Today we explore maturity through obedience in an ever shifting atmosphere.

Webster defines Obedience: to come into compliance with the demands or requests of one in authority. Listen to these words from Proverbs.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Proverbs 3:5 – 6

God invites us through relationship to trust and obey Him. Without relationship obedience is like an evil task master or an overbearing boss because this obedience is out of fear not relationship. What will get us through these ever shifting times as we await Messiah’s returns is listening to God and trusting him so we come into agreement (obey) him.

Recently God asked a curious thing of me, “not to leave the city limits of Portland, Oregon for a month” and because of our faith challengerelationship I have come into agreement with His request. It is a choice to obey and for me to obey is joy. During this time one friend said “it is like in Acts 1:4 when the disciples were told not to leave Jerusalem”. Another friend said “God is setting you apart”, while my husband and I believed in the beginning it was for my protection. I suspect some if not all of these are true!

Obedience can be tough and for me it has been. I can’t visit my daughters and grandkids who lives outside the city limits of Portland, I missed going to the big NDP event and worst of all I couldn’t get the items I needed to fix my husband’s sweater! Thank God for the internet.

The steps of obedience to God which lead to maturity are always a challenge as much as they can be an adventure, Father make them in this season pure joy!

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

The Relationship that Sustain in a Shifting Atmosphere!

1 05 2015

11087581_sIn our last post we opened a series on our ever shifting atmosphere and the need for maturity. These words are key, for they reveal the difference between walking in maturity and walking in our own strength.

If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love,

I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.

If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.

If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,

but do not have love, I gain nothing.

1Co 13:1 – 3

Before there is obedience, before their is maturity leading naturally into authority, there must be an encounter with God our Father. It is through this relationship that we were created to grow and mature. Moses did not have a vibrant mature relationship with God in Egypt because the bible tells us  in Exodus chapter  3, as Moses tended this father-in-law’s flocks he encountered God.

Moses struggled with those who oppressed his people and still today we struggle with the oppression we face in our daily lives. It is through our relationship with God which brings us to a place of speaking in love, acting in love and giving in love which birthing life in others rather than release the pain in our hearts which can build up when someone does something we don’t agree with.

We would do well to reflect upon the life of Moses; for as he grew in his relationship with God, he learned to follow God and as he followed God, he saw God set his people free!

Walking Without Understanding

19 12 2014

bridge reflectionWe have been blogging about walking in agreement with God. Walking in agreement sometimes means you are walking without understanding.

Whether its for a desired pregnancy, or a new office, often we come to that place when things are not moving forward as promised or planned causing us to begin asking, did we hear the Lord.

I have been doing that very thing for the last two weeks as our move in date has come and gone and still the needed work on the space is not even started, causing us to miss out an a donation of 4 reception chairs because we had no place to put them. Thank God we don’t begin paying rent until January 2015! My husband had even planned to take me away for a short vacation before opening the office and now even that has been put on hold. So it is very easy to ask myself, did we hear God.oak desk

This week there was a ray of hope as an office desk was picked up and delivered to the one office where no changes are needed. It sits there establishing God’s presence, and reminding our board,  we did hear God, as well as encouraging us to move forward according to His plan, even if we don’t fully understand!

As you look at the plans the Lord has for your life in 2015, don’t be afraid to bring the old season to a close, stick close to God, hear His still small voice and be strong and courageous for the Lord is with you wherever you go!

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

Agreement and Brilliant Faith!

5 12 2014

bridge reflectionWe have been talking about walking in agreement with God and if you remember our story you know we were getting ready to write the check. The check is written and as we wait to execute the lease now the reality of what we need from God is setting in.

Part of stepping out in agreement is realizing how much God is real going to provide in the new season.

CJM is taking furniture for 54 square feet to begin furnishing three offices and 494 square feet. Not to speak of the common areas, a conference/work room and a reception area another 550 square feet.

It is a big project and so we must rely on our really big God. Yes, we are a faith-based non-profit, but that will take us only so far, God must provide and CJM must trust that when He (our really big God) casts a vision, He will see it through.jonah.and.the.whale.02

Knowing God sends us is what makes our faith brilliant even in the midst of the darkness. I think of Jonah who was sitting in belly of the whale. As Jonah allowed brilliant faith to overcome his humanness, God said to Jonah “Go to the great city of Nineveh and proclaim to it the message I give you.” Jonah 3:2.

Remember those words which your really big God used to engage and ignite your faith, let those words resound in you, allowing the brilliance of your faith to overcome the darkness so like Jonah you can say:

“But I, with shouts of grateful praise, will sacrifice to you. What I have vowed I will make good. I will say, ‘Salvation comes from the LORD.”

Jonah 2:9

Being Ready, Able and Willing to Wait!

21 11 2014

bridge reflectionOur current series coming into agreement with God has been looking at corporate agreement. If you have been a follower of this blog you know I am very faithful in posting every week. For the last two weeks I have been silent. Not because I wanted to be, but because CJM has been moving forward.

Two scriptures are a great comfort as we struggle and wait for others to move forward in agreement with God. The first is from the book of Joshua where God speaks to Joshua as he prepares to take Israelites into the promised land:

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Joshua 1:9

Over the last two weeks I have struggled with CJM’s move forward. Even as I prepare to write this blog post I don’t know clockwhere our office will be. We are interested in leasing a suite with three offices, great for the next three years of growth! The board is in agreement with God and now we wait as the landlord struggles to come into agreement with God and present us with a lease agreement. Man’s coming into agreement with God takes time and energy especially when they don’t really know him.

The other scripture is from the book of Hebrews.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Heb 12:1-2

We have to be ready, able and willing to wait as we move forward with God, understanding it takes time for everyone involved to come into agreement and move forward. I leave you with these words of encouragement.

Be Strong and Courageous, for the Lord is with you wherever you go!

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

Exploring the New Land!

31 10 2014

Oregon CoastWe have been talking about agreement in last several posts. Last time we talked about the importance of coming into agreement corporately, before moving forward. Today we are looking at moving forward corporately!

Once you have agreement don’t be surprised if God calls you to move forward. In Numbers Moses sent out one representative from each tribe to explore the land of Canaan; giving them these instructions:

“When Moses sent them to explore Canaan, he said, ‘Go up through the Negev and on into the hill country. See what the land is like and whether the people who live there are strong or weak, few or many. What kind of land do they live in? Is it good or bad? What kind of towns do they live in? Are they unwalled or fortified? How is the soil? Is it fertile or poor? Are there trees in it or not? Do your best to bring back some of the fruit of the land.’ (It was the season for the first ripe grapes.)”

Num 13:17 – 20

It is key in this process of exploration to do as Moses did, allowing time for the exploration to be complete. Moses gave 40 spies in the landday, timing enough to travel to bring back as much information as they could about the people and the land.

This week as we sent out 5 representatives from CJM to explore the local office space, I ponder what will they report, will they see giants or a land flowing with milk and honey?

And what do those who are called to stay behind do? They must pray and be content as this process moves forward, welcoming all input that comes in, no matter if it is good or bad!

I wait with anticipation and awe for the explorers reports because upon returning to the office from one office exploration I was greeted by the news of someone committing to give to CJM on a monthly basis, investing in God’s plans for CJM!

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie
