Keys of Faith – to believe

20 06 2014

9226064_sWalking by faith and not by sight requires us to several things, the greatest of these is to believe!

“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
Hebrews 11:6

Believing is key to walking by faith and not by sight. When we believe God is who He said he is, then wezagart701 - landscape can have faith to walk knowing, He will do what He said He is going to do. Without belief in God we walk around “doing” good things based on what we can see with our own eyes which can lead even the best of Christians in to a life lacking the miraculous moves of God we were created to embrace by faith!

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Heb 12:1

Join me next time when we talk about another Key to Faith –  trust.

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

Father Abraham?

18 04 2014

blood red moon- paidWe began this week with a Blood Red Moon, as if God were highlighting the Jewish Passover and I could not help but reflect upon what God was up to. I marveled as on Sunday we remember the death and resurrection of Christ.

During this week several things shouted out to me, the first, how much God loves mankind. As the Jewish nation who were the first fruits of God’s plan for reconciliation were delivered! The second is how in less than a week the redemption of all of mankind became forever linked to Passover as Christ gave his life as the sacrificial lamb of God.

Then I thought about scripture and the many references to Father Abraham, which sent me to that first commandment with a promise, honor your father and mother that it might go well with you (4th commandment). Was it possible that the Jews are the spiritual parents of the Christians and that we are in reality because of Christ all part of the one new man God intended from creation? Giving new meaning to these words in Galatians.

“Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: ‘All nations will be blessed through you.’ “

Gal 3:8

As the children of the gospel open their eyes to our spiritual parents of the old testament, honoring and blessing them, I wonder if God himself will look down from heaven and say well done good and faithful servant!

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

Letting Go of REGRETS!

4 04 2014

11076235_sToday I want to talk about letting go of regrets, we all have them even God did in Genesis 6:7 when he regretted creating the human race because of our wickedness.

To regret is to feel sad, repentant, or disappointed over (something that has happened or been done, esp. a loss or missed opportunity).

In 2 Corinthians, Paul the great evangelist had regrets, but like God he realized the importance and the power of letting go of them.

“Even if I caused you sorrow by my letter, I do not regret it.
Though I did regret it–
I see that my letter hurt you, but only for a little while–” 2Co 7:8

Letting go of regrets affects our health and “maybe the key to better health as we age” writes Charles Choi10232309_s in a livescience.com article called No Regrets: Why ‘Letting Go’ May Be Key to Happy Aging.

We see why as we look further in 2 Corinthians 7:10

“Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret,
but worldly sorrow brings death.”
2Cor 7:10

The key to having no regrets is in how and where we filter the things that happen in our lives.

Many Christians give lip service to those words in Romans 8:28 “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

Many people ask what the key is to the joy they witness in my life and that key is how and where I filter the events that happened in my life. I filter them with God for he reveals His perspective and His purpose for why a specific thing happened which allows me to have Godly sorrow leaving no regrets!

PS… I am not saying that letting go of regrets is always a quick or simple process, but it is a process that allows my joy to be restored!

Blessings and Complete Joy,
Millie

Wanting God’s Will

1 03 2014

6304066_sThis is the final blog in the series on demonic attacks. To read from the beginning go to the January 29th post in this blog.

During that two month period I also learned about asking God’s will concerning the things I want…

Here is an entry in my journal during that time.

“Please help me to love and honor you to the greatest extent possible. I want this in my life. I don’t care about anything else. I just want you. I want to know and embrace your love, receiving it to the fullest measure possible. I want to be filled and flooded with your presences all the days of my life. I come before you and ask your will concerning these things I want.”

Wanting is part of being human, but not everything we want is God’s will for our lives. We can 17602684_swant a million dollars, but is that God’s will? Money is not ever to be a goal of my life. I have to lay that want down. While the want I expressed in my journal I believe is God’s will for my life, scripture supports this desire in Ephesians 3.

Not everything we want can be found in the bible, but principles supporting healthy desires will. I think of the men and women  around the globe who work inside and outside the home to care for their families and to live a life pleasing to God certainly are. Staying close to the Lord will allow us to hear God’s answer to the question, is this Your will for my life!

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

What is Love Anyway?

22 01 2014

21909694_sAs we finish this series What is Love Anyway, looking at love and its hindrances. I want to focus on these words in 1 Corinthians 13 concerning love…

Love is patient, love is kind.

It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.

It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking,

it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.

Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

These are my favorite words concerning love…8785800_s

It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails.

1 Corinthians 13:4 – 8

We will never love perfectly; we must simply do our best and let God take care of the rest. May each of us love our neighbor as we love ourselves, asking God to help us love ourselves as He first loved us!

Evil vs. Truth

18 01 2014

21909694_sWe are in a series called What is Love Anyway? To read all of this series on love scroll back to The Beatitudes of Love, beginning on 11/9/2013. We have finished the different words for Love in the bible and now we are looking at the seventh and final hindrances to love, evil.

“Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.”

1 Corinthians 13:6

We define evil in its noun form as profound immorality, wickedness, and depravity, esp. when regarded as a supernatural force. It’s other use as an adjective 8621117_s(an attribute), evil is profoundly immoral and malevolent.

We learned earlier in our study of love how God delights in us and so this use of the word delight is important as it is deepens our understanding of the impact of evil. Evil is a very powerful thing. Evil is the direct opposite of truth. We think of good and evil, which are human measures, while God thinks of truth (the quality or state of being true) as the opposite of evil.

My life was one of profound immorality, wickedness, and depravity, growing up in the occult.  It was devoid of love.  As I grew I wanted the truth because I knew “good” people did bad things. Good can masquerade itself like the devil, offering Eve the apple in the garden, while truth brings freedom and it is why I am a Christian today.

“Know the truth and the truth will set you Free.”

John 8:32

Rejoice now and always in the truth, because the truth given in love, brings freedom!

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

Anger and its Foothold

15 01 2014

21909694_sWe are in a series called What is Love Anyway? To read all of this series on love scroll back to The Beatitudes of Love, beginning on 11/9/2013. We have finished the different words for Love in the bible and now we are looking at the sixth hindrances to love, anger.

Love, “It is not easily angered, it keeps no records of wrongs.”

1 Cor 13:5

We define the word anger as a strong feeling of annoyance, displeasure, or hostility. In and of itself anger is not sinful, because20309004_s over and over again we read about God being angry with the Israelites. Ephesians 4:26 tells us “In your anger do not sin: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.” This warns us of what will happen if we do not let go of our anger in a timely manner, we give the devil a foothold.

Looking back at 1 Corinthians 13:5 we see the foothold of anger is in keeping a record of wrongs. How often with our family, our friends, and even our spouse, do we keep a long running list of their wrongs.

I have a choice whether I keep a record of how many times my husband forgets the ketchup when ordering my French fries, or I can let it go and take the time to pour my own ketchup, when I get home. So often what we get upset about isn’t really worth the possible damage to our relationship, even though my French fries are now cold.

Millie
