Markers of Maturity

12 06 2015

11087581_sWe are in a series called maturity in our ever shifting atmosphere.  Last time we explored God-given maturity learning our obedience is through agreeing with God’s plans and purposes. In this post we will look at maturity what it is in an ever shifting atmosphere.

What is maturity? Maturity is being fully developed. Maturity is not something we can learn in a moment rather it is a state of being. Hebrews 12 gives several markers of maturity.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Heb 12:1-2

It takes maturity, years of practice to be able to throw off every hindrance. It takes starting and stopping, trying and failing to Leadershipcome to that place where you are fully developed and able to throw off sin “to run with perseverance the race marked out for us”. It is in being mature, we keep our eyes focused on the author and perfector of our faith (NIV) no matter the cost. This final sentence in Heb 12-2 sums it up the value of maturity, for we like Christ can endure the tribulation our lives bring as we run the race marked out by God for each of us!

Join me next time as we talk more about maturity as we learn the value of starting and stopping in this ever shifting atmosphere

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

What is Wisdom?

11 06 2013

hthree_legged_tableLast time we prepared the soil of our soul for our new series on wisdom, truth and knowledge and so we begin looking at the first leg of kingdom’s table, wisdom.

Ecclesiastes tells us:

“Wisdom, like an inheritance, is a good thing

and benefits those who see the sun.”

Ecc 7:11

Webster’s dictionary defines wisdom “as the ability to discern the inner qualities”. Wisdom looks beyond the surface of things into the root.

King Solomon, a man who could have asked God for anything, requested wisdom, thus he was and is known as the wisest of men!

Solomon reflecting on kingdom wisdom in Proverbs 3:14-18; wisdom is worth more than silver, making you richer than gold, more valuable than precious jewels, a life-giving tree, the source of happiness.

What I find interesting in these words of Solomon is as we flow in kingdom wisdom (God’s discernment) we connect to the life-giving source of happiness. Kingdom wisdom is a complete and balanced package. This is in stark contrast to the wisdom of man which is often portrayed as a lofty burden weighing us down. I am reminded of another man who clearly functioned with Kingdom Wisdom, Christ who in Matthew 11:30 reminds us “my yoke is easy and my burden in light”, because God himself helps us to carry our burdens as we discern the deep things and he gives us rest!

As we go about our day seeking wisdom, today we ask you Father, the creator of all wisdom,  for this first leg of your kingdom table life-giving wisdom which opens the door to establishes your kingdom here on earth.

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

Praise Christ Desired!

16 02 2013

7 P of the Life of Christ - 1We have walk through the 7P’s of the Life of Christ. We began with God’s plan & purpose, and into Christ’s choice to follow the path God. Entered with Christ into God’s presence where he received patience, and perseverance. Today we come to the final post in this series, as we look at the 7th P, praise.

“Then I heard all beings in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and in the sea offer praise. Together, all of them were saying, ‘Praise, honor, glory, and strength forever and ever to the one who sits on the throne and to the Lamb!'”

Rev 5:13

Today we look at the power of praise. After Christ died, went to hell and rose again, then he revealed himself to his disciples and finally he ascended to heaven, where the real party began and continues today as Christ return victorious to his Father in Heaven.

The book of Jude tells us, “Offer praise to God our Savior because of our Lord Jesus Christ! Only God can keep you from falling and make you pure and joyful in his glorious presence. Before timecrown 123rf began and now and forevermore, God is worthy of glory, honor, power, and authority. Amen.” Jud 1:24

All mankind will one day praise the one who sits on the throne, the Lamb of God who took away the sins of the world. This praise is everlasting and it is the only praise Christ look for, not the praise of man but the praise which awaited him in heaven!

You and I must not look for the praise of man, rather we must look for the praise of our Father in Heaven as Christ did.

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

Christ – Patience of a Saint

9 02 2013

7 P of the Life of Christ - 1In the last several posts we have been talking about the 7P’s of the life of Christ. The first was plan, the second purpose, the third path, the fourth presence and today we look at the fifth, patience.

But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.

Rom 8:25

Christ worked hard to be a patience man as we see in the encounter with the son his disciples could not cure in Matthew 17:17, Then Jesus answered and said “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him to me.”

As Christ waited to fulfill his purpose here on earth he had to wait until man was ready. Matthew 17:17 clearly reveals the disciples were not ready for Christ to go to the cross as they were stillBaby learning to have greater faith.

Like Christ, you and I have to wait patiently for what we know is to happen. “One day my child will walk” the mother reminds herself as she struggles not to pick up her child who is diligently attempting to crawl across the floor.  We must have patience, for in having patience we allow others to mature, coming to the place where they too can walk the path the Lord has for them.

May these words of the apostle Paul from Colossians 1:11 encourage you.

“May you be made strong with all the strength which comes from his glorious power, so that you may be able to endure everything with patience. And with joy give thanks to the Father, who has made you fit to have your share of what God has reserved for his people in the kingdom of light.”

Join me next time as we look at the sixth P, perseverance.

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

Path – Christ’s Sacred Journey

2 02 2013

7 P of the Life of Christ - 1In the last several blogs we have been talking about the 7P’s of the life of Christ. The first was plan, the second purpose and today we look at the third P, path.

“Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path.”

Psa 119:105

“You are my God. Show me what you want me to do,

and let your gentle Spirit lead me in the right path.”

Psa 143:10

We can be certain Christ’s knowledge of the scriptures gave him strength and lighted his path as he walked the path God had laid out for him.  Christ quoted the Old Testament scripture to his pathdisciple concerning his life, one such verse “he was wounded for our transgressions” is found in Isaiah 53:5.

In the garden of Gethsemane as Christ was struggling I am sure when not man could stand beside him, the Holy Spirit kept watch, giving him the strength, comfort and courage to continue down the path to our salvation.

Finally, the path of each person’s life is a sacred one, it can be though of like a covenant between you and the Lord, for if you walk the path the Lord has laid out for you, he will be a lamp, lighting the dark corners and will send the Holy Spirit to guide you!

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

To Save Us – Christ’s Purpose!

26 01 2013

7 P of the Life of Christ - 1Today we look at the second P of the Life of Christ that of Purpose. Last time we looked at the first P, Plan based on Jeremiah 29:11. Out of every plan is the purpose for the man.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

                             John 3:16

Here in a simple and often memorized verse we have Christ’s purpose, to save mankind. This verse also reveals the value Christ’s life has in ours, and so we understand Christ gave his life so that we would perish, his living legacy (value) to all of creation!

Purpose also answers the question we hunger to know, why. We think knowing the why’s of life would bring us peace, when in fact it leads to more struggle.Maze with ball on top

Struggling with purpose is part of the human condition, for to truly walk fully into our purpose requires the laying down of self, our pride and need for safety and control. We see this in the life of our savior Jesus who knowing his purpose still struggled in the garden of Gethsemane (Matt 26:36-45) asking the Lord to take away the cross.

Often we know the why’s of our lives as husbands, wives, parents, and in our jobs, but it is the struggle to walk with integrity as Christ did which trips us up and so next time we will look at the third P of the Life of Christ, path!

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

I know the Plans I have for YOU!

22 01 2013

7 P of the Life of Christ - 1We begin today not with P for purpose, but with the P for plan, because before God had a purpose for Christ, and for you and I, He had a plan!

I know the plans that I have for you, declares the LORD. They are plans for peace and not disaster, plans to give you a future filled with hope.

Jer 29:11   GNB

God had a plan for Christ’s life, the redemption of the human race. God knew it would take a perfect sacrifice to cover completely the sins of the world. Only God has the perfection this sacrifice required and so God gave a part of himself fully to man and his redemption. God’s plans for Christ brought peace, rescuing us from our eternal disaster, giving us a hope and a future!Crucifiction

Also, Christ gave us a living road map, showing us how to embrace the presence of the living God so we can have the strength to navigate through the twists, turns and dangers of life here on earth.

You and I must seek after the living God to find the plans He has for us. We must put our focus where Christ put his focus while here on earth. Not on man, not on the devil, not on circumstances, but on the living God. Even with his dying breath his focus was on God, when he said, “my God, my God, why have you forsaken me”.

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie
