Kingdom Teachers, Igniting Our Passion to Know!

We are in a series on five spiritual gifts of the kingdom, sometimes called the office gifts from Ephesians 4:11-13. We are looking today at the teacher the final of these gifts but just the start in understanding how they function in the kingdom

So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

Eph 4:11-13

What is a teacher?

One who causes others to know something, an imparter of knowledge.

Not everyone is called to be a teacher. The bible even cautions those who teach, “they will be judged more strictly” James 3:1. This verse can be a challenge to the confident teacher, or it can scare the novice away.

Teachers can be so easy to spot, just look at any local school or Sunday school class in America, because they are always imparting knowledge. When a teacher learns something they begin teaching it and as they learn more they take those willing to listen deeper than they could ever go alone.

There are many types of teachers, from the historian to scientific and beyond. Each of kingdom gift can have as a secondary as well as a primary gift and one of the most common is teaching. Each teaches from their strengths, if they are pastor they will nurture, if they are an evangelist they will point you to Christ, The prophet will reveal deep truths, while the apostle will lead you into new territory!

A gifted teacher sparks in others around them a hunger for the deeper things as their hunger for knowledge becomes infectious!
