Temptation and the Kingdom of Heaven

24 11 2016

changeToday we are talking about temptation and Kingdom of Heaven through James 1:13 – 15. Temptation is all around us, I was tempted as I look at writing this post just to let it slide another week, as I had done for months, I didn’t so here we are looking tempation.

No one being tempted should say, “I am being tempted by God.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, and God himself tempts no one.  Rather, each person is being tempted whenever he is being dragged off and enticed by the bait of his own desire.  Then, having conceived, the desire gives birth to sin; and when sin is fully grown, it gives birth to death.  Don’t delude yourselves, my dear brothers.  James 1:13-15

Webster’s dictionary defines temptation: to entice to do wrong by promise of pleasure or gain. So temptation is an action taken to engage our will (our right to choose) to act in a self gratifying way resulting in wrong choices and short-term gain and for many long-term guilt and shame.

If we look at my temptation not to write this post, the temptation was to spend time with my husband watching TV or choose to come temptationinto my cold office on Thanksgiving morning and press into God believing something of value would result. As I pondered my choice I realized not to go into my office would have put off the inevitable, sitting down and writing about temptation, something everyone knows about, but seldom talks about because it brings with it personal responsibility, and who wants that on Thanksgiving!

Temptation is a natural part of being human as we exercise our right to choose. We are all going to make good choices and resisting temptation while on other days we will be overcome by temptation and make those dreaded bad choices we wish we hadn’t made. Praise God for Yeshua who made the choice to die, taking away the sins of the world!

Join me next time as we delve into James 1:13, looking at this truth, God doesn’t tempt us.

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

Surprise – Long Time NO See!

17 11 2016

changeFor some of you who have been with me for a while you have asked, have I quit blogging. I never quit, rather I was undergoing some changes and writing took an unexpected turn.

I lost a close friend in May 2016 who died unexpectedly from pneumonia. She was a key part of Complete Joy Ministries. When she died everything in the ministry fell upon my shoulders. It was a tough transition and I am glad to say our ministry is coming through to the other side. I am stronger, I am more committed to the work of the ministry to equip the saints of Yeshua to do the works of service Yahweh has prepared them to do.

As I come back to blogging I am not picking up where I left off with the Kingdom of Heaven and righteousness but speaking instead to where we are today in James 1:13. We are talking about change, temptation and the Kingdom of Heaven! We have a new president and we are in a new season. Here in the USA we are tempted to walk into the downward spiral of a country who walked much like I did into unexpected change.

James 1:13 No one being tempted should say, “I am being tempted by God.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, and God himself tempts no one. 14 Rather, each person is being tempted whenever he is being dragged off and enticed by the bait of his own desire. 15 Then, having conceived, the desire gives birth to sin; and when sin is fully grown, it gives birth to death. 16 Don’t delude yourselves, my dear brothers.

We are often tempted to do one thing or another. Join me next time when we take up the conversation on change, temptation and the Kingdom of Heaven!

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

Righteousness, Key to the Kingdom of Heaven!

12 08 2016

10606784_sWe are in a series about the Kingdom of Heaven. Last time we looked at the poor in spirit and today we are looking further in Matthew 5 at the Kingdom of Heaven and righteousness.

Righteousness is a major key in functioning in the Kingdom of Heaven. As we look at righteousness and the Kingdom of Heaven through Matthew 5 there are three verses which we will focus on as a group.

They are:

Mat 5:10:  Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Mat_5:19:  Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others righteousnessaccordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Mat_5:20:  For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

In these verses we see three aspects of righteousness that were key in the day’s of the apostles and they are key for us today. They are the persecution & righteousness, verse 10,  teaching and righteousness verse 19 and models of righteousness in our day, verse 20.

In the next three posts we will be camping on righteousness to understand the importance of this vital key in the Kingdom of Heaven.

I leave you with you with the Webster’s definition of righteousness: acting rightly, according to what is right.

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

Kingdom of Heaven – part 1

8 07 2016

10606784_sWe are entering a new series about the Kingdom of Heaven. In doing my research I found that the term Kingdom of Heaven is found 10 times in Matthew’s gospel alone while the term Kingdom of God is found 68 times over 10 different NT books.

We are not here to debate if the Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of Heaven are different or the same, but to begin this series I need you to understand that we will be using both of these terms as they share a common root, Kingdom.

Readers of the Old Testament were familiar with the term God of Heaven (Daniel 2:44) so with the coming of Yeshua the term Kingdom of Heaven spoke deeply to the fulfillment of our soon coming king and savior of the world, whether you call him Jesus Christ or Yeshua!

Join me next time when we look at the Kingdom of Heaven in Matthew 4:17 and the need to repent!

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

Kingdom Creation vs. Man’s Control

27 07 2013

parents and kidsLiving in the Kingdom is all about a deeper relationship with God. Today we are going to talk about living as the person God created verse the person the world wants to control.

God created us with a body, soul, spirit and free will. God intended us to create as he created, to have compassion as he has compassion and to love as He first loved us.

This is in stark contrast to the world which wants to control every aspect of our lives, from what time you go to work to what time you come home at night. We also work hard to control our own lives and become so overcome by our to do lists and being the best that we forget who God created us to be.

Who has God created you to be? Take time not to look at a spiritual gifting test, but rather seek God, ask him about why you are passionate about some things, they will lead you to who God created you to be.

As seasons change how that is expressed will change. That is to be expected. I use to be a mom ofCJM Logo all blue 2 three kids, now I am a nana (grandma of three grand-daughters). And this year I became the founder of Complete Joy Ministries a 501c3 organization. I was created to love, lead and mentor God’s creation, perfecting my skills as I raised my children..

The world would say, you were good at raising children, you should work in children’s ministry, doing VBS. There was a season where I did lead VBS, but that season is a distant memory, which I still draw on today.

Don’t be afraid to step out into who God created you to be for this season in your life.

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

Activating the Kingdom

13 07 2013

Lord's PrayerThinking about the Kingdom of Heaven, God is planning the word activation firmly in my brain with it, as if we can’t have one without the other.

Webster’s defines activation as: To set into motion. When we think of activating the Kingdom we are not trying to create the kingdom within ourselves, rather we are activating our agreeing with God to set the Kingdom of Heaven into motion within us!

I think of breathing, it is often a passive action, which we do quite naturally, but if you desire to sing professionally you have to learn to breath, you have to activate your will in breathing so that your voice projects to the fullest extent.

Christ taught us to activate the Kingdom in the Lord’s prayer.

Our Father, which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy will be done in earth,
As it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive them that trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,

The power, and the glory,

For ever and ever.

Amen.

The Kingdom of God is with us, but for us to engage the kingdom, we must activate our will, so that our body, soul and spirit can engage God!

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

Prepare for the Kingdom!

29 06 2013
Blast of Joy

Blast of Joy!

As we continue to look at the Kingdom of God during this summer I marvel at the theme of preparation in many people’s lives.

Reading in 1 Chronicles 22 of the life of David: we see him preparing, gathering iron,  bronze and cedar timbers all materials for the house of the Lord which he charged his son Solomon to build.

In each generation the Kingdom of God has been manifest. In David’s time it was the building and dedication of the temple.

Today we see Kingdom of God manifest as the body of Christ once again prepares for the signs and wonders which accompany the last days.

I am feeling the call to prepare, scaling back this blog post to once a week for the months of July and August to post only on Saturdays, to make preparations for the coming Wilderness retreat and for the new quarterly CJM newsletter “Blast of Joy” as well as working on re-writing several other projects for re-publication in 2014.

David waited, watched and prepared as his son Solomon grew up to become King and build a house for God’s name.

God is asking us to stay focused on him as we prepare, believing for those promises which He himself has given us.

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie
