God’s Provision

19 10 2013

ElishaWe are in a series: A Life like Elisha. His life teaches us many lessons. The first was how to respond to new assignment when they come. To begin the series go to September 28, responding to New Assignments. The second was how to have undivided commitment, the third how to embrace transition, the fourth how to speak to non-believers and today we look at God’s provision through the story of the widow of a prophet in 2 Kings 4:1-7.

The story begins with a widow coming to Elisha and telling him she had a debtor who was coming to take her sons into slavery to pay her dead husband’s debt.

Elisha replied to her, “How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?” “Your servant has nothing there at all,” she said, jars of oil“except a small jar of olive oil.”

2 Kings 4:2

Elisha knew God provides for our needs, knowing the story of Abraham and God’s provision of the sacrificial the lamb, so he directed the widow to ask those around her for empty jars. We do not know how many jars of oil were filled from that one small jar but we do know oil flowed until they filled the last one, allowing them to pay the debt and live off of what is left.

We expect God to bring provision at that time, when in reality often God has provided for us in advance and we need only to recognize and act as He directs. God cares so much about us that He prepares in advance unlike many of us humans!

Kingdom Keys

25 06 2013

three_legged_tableToday we are finishing our series on  the three legs of Kingdom wisdom, truth and knowledge. We need wisdom, truth and knowledge to function in the Kingdom of God here on earth. As we allow kingdom wisdom, truth and knowledge to be manifest in our lives an amazing thing happens we are activating keys to the kingdom!

“I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”

Matthew 16:19

As we allow God to move in us, manifesting kingdom wisdom, walking in kingdom truth and understanding kingdom knowledge we are activating Kingdom principles. One such principle is what we bind on earth shall be bound in heaven and what we loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

God has given us authority upon the earth, and as we walk under his covering and blessings we will see miracles and wonders happen upon the earth.

I think of the CJM office (read my blog post April 6th) and how God spoke truth about both the necessity and the plan He had for it, so walking into agreement with our Lord allowed him to release both his direction and provision for CJM. By allowing yourself to receive and manifest kingdom wisdom, truth and knowledge will indeed bind and loose things here on earth!

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

What is Kingdom Knowledge?

22 06 2013

three_legged_tableLast time we looked at truth, as part of our Kingdom series on wisdom, truth and knowledge and so today we look at the third leg of our kingdom table, knowledge.

The psalmist writes:

“God instructs the nations and gives knowledge to us all.”

Psalm 94:10

A college graduate fresh out of school learns the hard way that knowing and knowledge are two very different things. Webster’s defines knowledge as to understand something with familiarity gained through experience or association.

Let me give you an example from my own life, We have a set of fraternal twins, a boy and girl, who are now in their thirty. Before they were born I read about raising twin, that is knowing. After years of raising our twins my husband and I have the knowledge, having spent time gaining experience to understand how to raise twins.

Now let’s turn a corner to understand kingdom knowledge,  In 2nd Chronicles history record God replying to Solomon: “Solomon, you could have asked me to make you rich or famous or to let you live a long time. Or you could have asked for your enemies to be destroyed. Instead, you asked for wisdom and knowledge to rule my people.”

Kingdom knowledge has a depth, for our understanding of something is founded and filtered through God’s perspective.

Join me next time as we finish our series on Wisdom, Truth and Knowledge!

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

What is Kingdom Truth?

15 06 2013

three_legged_tableLast time we looked at wisdom, part of our Kingdom series on wisdom, truth and knowledge and so today we look at the second leg of our kingdom table, truth.

The psalmist writes:

“Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior,

and my hope is in you all day long.”

Psalm 25:5

What is kingdom truth? Is it only knowing Jesus or is it so much more? Webster’s dictionary defines truth as the state of being the case: fact.

I believe this is what kingdom truth is, while if we look at man’s truth we see it more as a judgment; an idea that is accepted “as truth”.

Recently a client I was working with re-framed the truth about her family, rather than going with the family line she had grown up with, and as she did she found freedom because kingdom truth sets us free! While the judgments of men bring us under layers of bondage, sin and condemnation.

When we are willing to look from God’s kingdom perspective (remembering wisdom) then we find a greater and profound balance to navigate those judgments the world wants us to buy into. Whether it is Mom and Dad saying “everything is okay”, when it really wasn’t or our society which wants us to buy into gay marriage as marriage equality.

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

What is Wisdom?

11 06 2013

hthree_legged_tableLast time we prepared the soil of our soul for our new series on wisdom, truth and knowledge and so we begin looking at the first leg of kingdom’s table, wisdom.

Ecclesiastes tells us:

“Wisdom, like an inheritance, is a good thing

and benefits those who see the sun.”

Ecc 7:11

Webster’s dictionary defines wisdom “as the ability to discern the inner qualities”. Wisdom looks beyond the surface of things into the root.

King Solomon, a man who could have asked God for anything, requested wisdom, thus he was and is known as the wisest of men!

Solomon reflecting on kingdom wisdom in Proverbs 3:14-18; wisdom is worth more than silver, making you richer than gold, more valuable than precious jewels, a life-giving tree, the source of happiness.

What I find interesting in these words of Solomon is as we flow in kingdom wisdom (God’s discernment) we connect to the life-giving source of happiness. Kingdom wisdom is a complete and balanced package. This is in stark contrast to the wisdom of man which is often portrayed as a lofty burden weighing us down. I am reminded of another man who clearly functioned with Kingdom Wisdom, Christ who in Matthew 11:30 reminds us “my yoke is easy and my burden in light”, because God himself helps us to carry our burdens as we discern the deep things and he gives us rest!

As we go about our day seeking wisdom, today we ask you Father, the creator of all wisdom,  for this first leg of your kingdom table life-giving wisdom which opens the door to establishes your kingdom here on earth.

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

Wisdom Truth and Knowledge!

1 06 2013

three_legged_tableToday we open a new series on wisdom, truth and knowledge we look at three keys to the kingdom of God.

Ecclesiastes tells us:

“To the man who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God.

Ecc 2:26

Wisdom, truth and knowledge are like a three-legged table God creates within our soul. If you have one of these attributes without the others the table (our soul) will not stand. Often in life we have one of these three legs more fully developed and feel good about ourselves all the while the other two are not fully mature, so the table (our soul) is out of balance, unable to stand. Paul in Ephesians 4 calls us to become adults, mature so that we are not tossed about by every wind of doctrine.

As we prepare for this series allow this prayer of the apostle Paul to prepare your soul for these very important keys to the kingdom.

“For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully  giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light.  For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”

Col 1:9-14

Millie

Leadership Transition

30 10 2012

Today as we walk with the nation Israel they are once again in transition. Moses their father is dead and with Joshua in the lead, Israel is to enter into the promised land. A land of milk and honey as well as powerful people and fortified cities. Forty years earlier the nation of Israel turned away and now, with Joshua in the lead, God directs them to cross the Jordan River. This is a mighty leadership transition and one which will forever mark the nation of Israel, for they will finally occupy the land God is giving them!

“Long ago I promised the ancestors of Israel that I would give this land to their descendants. So be strong and brave! Be careful to do everything my servant Moses taught you. Never stop reading The Book of the Law he gave you. Day and night you must think about what it says. If you obey it completely, you and Israel will be able to take this land.”

Jos 1:6

Leadership transitions are very hard for everyone involved. Here the Lord reminds Joshua of the promise given to the former generation, before giving him instructions so that the transition and his leadership would serve the nation of Israel as the Lord intends.

Leadership transitions can easily go off course, it would have been far be too easy for Joshua and the nation of Israel to begin fighting the powerful men and fortified cities and lose the truth of who they were, a nation set apart for God, so Joshua’s focus on the Lord had to lead the way!
