Last time we looked at leaving as Christ left his disciples to fulfill his purpose and today we look at the second action which we must take as we believe for the new things in 2013, cleaving.
“But take diligent heed to perform the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the LORD charged you, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave to him, and to serve him with all your heart, and with all your soul.”
Joshua 22:5
Webster’s dictionary defines cleaving as adhering to, clinging or sticking to. This same word is used in Genesis 2:24, “Therefore shall a man leave his mother and father and shall cleave to his wife; and they may become one flesh.”
As we move out in 2013 and into the new thing, cleaving unto our God and serving Him with all our hearts and with all our souls is key.
We are not here to cleave to the new thing, but rather this new thing has come into our lives that we might be drawn into deeper intimacy with our Lord so that His glory might be seen
It is evermore crucial in this season that you and I seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, Matthew 6:33 so this new thing shall be added as God intends. God is the focus, never the new thing. Cleave unto God for as we cleave unto our God I believe He will sweetly and gently usher you into this new thing!
