How Committed are You?

1 04 2016

12755593_sToday we begin a new blog series, How committed are you? In this new season, we all must assess how committed we are to our God and following His plans for our lives.

Who is blind but my servant, and deaf like the messenger I send? Who is blind like the one in covenant with me, blind like the servant of the LORD?  You have seen many things, but you pay no attention; your ears are open, but you do not listen.”

Isa 42:19 – 20

In this passage the Lord is speaking to His people Israel who were supposed to be in a committed relationship with Him and willing to follow His plans in their lives, but clearly if you read on, they weren’t as committed to Him and He was to them.

Like Israel, you and I can take our relationship with the Lord and His plans us for granted. We can read our bible, go to church and yes even pray as if they were all part of a grand Christian check list, instead of that place where God releases His plans and strategies.  This is a new day and a new season. Do you hear the Lord calling you into a greater level of relationship? Are you willing to be fed and equipped with new manna you will need to enter new territories where you have never been before?

Join me next time as we explore how we as His servants can become deaf.

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

How to MOVE in the new season, Part 4

18 03 2016

moveThis is the fourth post in our series How to MOVE in this new season.  Today we are unpacking the V for victory in our acrostic MOVE.

“In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.”

1Jn 5:3-4

Often when we think of the word victory it is in terms of defeating the enemy! If we look at the deeper meaning of victory we see it as an achievement of mastery or success in a struggle or endeavor against odds or difficulties.

In the story called pushing against the rock, (author unknown, which you will find on our empower page) we find a man was given an assignment by the Lord to push against theman-pushing-rock-up-hill-ok-to-use rock with all his might. Looking at things from the man’s perspective he thought his victory was to get the rock all the way up the hill and when the rock didn’t move he began  feeling like a failure. At that moment the enemy came at him causing him to relax his efforts to push against the rock. As he enquired of the Lord about his failure the Lord revealed “Your calling was to be obedient and push, and to exercise your faith and trust in My wisdom, and this you have done.”

God’s victories in our life look so much different than how we and the world see them. God saw this man strong and vital because of pushing with all his might against the rock while he saw himself a failure. Like this man, through opposition we will grow and our abilities will far surpasses that which we used to have. Our faith, our trust and our wisdom is where God desires you and I to have the victory so we must push on our own rock, which might never move so we see amazing and profound victories rise in our spirit man!

Join me next time when unpack the next key to moving in the new season, E for Equipped.

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

How to MOVE in the new season, part 3

11 03 2016

moveThis is the third post in our series How to MOVE in this new season.  Today we are unpacking the O for obedient in our acrostic MOVE.

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

2Co 10:5

Obedient is the choice we make whether to submit to control or guidance.

The student makes the choice when he/she walks into a classroom whether to submit to their teacher control and guidance, just as a child chooses to respond obediently to the correction/control of a loving parent.

Obedience is the ultimate choice. As a nation we have chosen to remove the 10 commandments from our public spaces. We set ourselves, our wants, our hopes and our desires against the knowledge of God and abandoning God as we refuse tofather daughter take our thought life captive, resulting in lives which are pulled to and fro by every passing wind.

Obedience to Christ in this season will bring us to a higher level of functionality, as we  embrace our Lord who is a good God, rather than revolting against the vindictive God once preached from pulpits across our nation and around the world in hopes to control people to walk obediently with their maker.

To be obedient to Yeshua (Christ) is a conscious choice, one I embrace with both hands, my whole heart and every brain cell I have! I know as I take every thought captive God will sift my thought life, purifying my motives so I can function to a higher level in this season!

Join me next time when unpack the next key to moving in the new season, V for victory.

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

Ready, Set, Move!

19 02 2016

2016 calendarWe began this series with a prophetic word for 2016, God intends to work in and through each of us! Last time we looked at letting God behind the curtain. Today we finish up this series by taking another look at this key scripture.

…being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Php 1:6

If we look at the verses before our key verse and we see the apostle Paul speaking to the Philippians telling them how he prays with joy and gives thanks to God because of there partnership in the gospel. He understands there humanity, he doesn’t expect them to be perfect, rather he commends them for their partnership in the gospel.

You and I can be confident in this; God will perfect us if we allow ourselves to wait, 20160210_163152_004and as we wait inviting God behind the curtain to bring healing to our woundedness, while restoring us body, soul and spirit for the plans and purposes He has for each of us as we partner with him!

In 2016 watch for the hand of God move. Don’t step out in fear, frustration or boredom. Allow the maturity of the Lord to rest upon you and when the spirit of the Lord said “Move”, then move, and not before. Moving too early will bring fear, moving too late can bring frustration and not being willing to move can bring boredom.

We all have seen these and they are never pretty to watch and more painful when we are the ones moving at the wrong time!

Join me next time when we begin a new series, How to MOVE in this new season!

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

Meaning of a Savior – part 2

13 11 2015

Is 9Last time we began the series, Meaning of a Savior and today we are going to unpack Isaiah 9:6 first phrase by phrase, then word by word as we look at Yeshua (Jesus) and who he is!

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Isa 9:6

We are tempted as we unpack this verse to overlook the first couple of phrases to get to the meat. Isaiah knew the importance of these first phrases so let’s unpack them too!

“For to us a child is born”, this first phase tells us several things about our savior. First, our savior is ours! We need to make our savior personal. The second is that our savior is real, because he was born just like you and I were, he wasn’tBaby beamed off of some space ship, sorry star trek fans. But he wasn’t. He was born in a manger. He lived the life of a child, he had dirty diapers and had to learn to walk and to talk. He had to deal with bullies and even being lost as a child.

This often overlook phrase reminds us our savior is real, as real as the fingers that are typing these words and your eyes that are reading this post. Our Savior, your savior and my savior, he is real. Let us rejoice as we meditate on the meaning of our savior, for he is indeed real and not some fictional character in a juice novel!

Join me next time as we unpack “to us a son is given”

Blessings and Complete Joy,

Millie

Meaning of a Savior!

6 11 2015

It has been a long time since you read a post from me. This new season has been a whirl wind experience as we purchased the Oregon Tabernacle Tent in July. God is moving and as He moves in our lives we must focus on the transition and so I took time off from this blog but as promised I am posting again since it is November!

This is the feature article in the November 2015 CJM “Blast of Joy” newsletter coming out later this month. We have a new Blast of Joy newsletter page, it is good to be back!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
Isa 9:6
These words of Isaiah 9:6 written thousands of years ago, give us hope to believe in our savior, “He is the Wonderful Counselor; none teaches like him. He is God, the mighty One. Such is the work of the Mediator, that no less power than that of the mighty God could bring it to pass. He is God, one with the Father. As the Prince of Peace, he reconciles us to God; he is the Giver of peace in the heart and conscience…” Matthew Henry Concise Commentary.
Our savior understood who he was saving, all of fallen humanity. God established the right ofIs 9humanity to choose in the garden. Yeshua didn’t remove our right to choice but rather redeemed our right to choose as the Prince of Peace, establishing  eternal forgiveness on the Earth at  Calgary.
“Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.” Isaiah 9:7
Our savior was established long ago, it is our choice today to embrace Him! Join me next time as we continue this series, Meaning of a Savior!
Millie
Moving Forward
7 08 2015
No Fear signIn this new season we must move forward, we must press in and watch the hand of God move!
As you do allow these words from Psalm 27 lead you!
Psa 27:1  Of David.
The LORD is my light and my salvation–whom shall I fear?The LORD is the stronghold of my life–of whom shall I be afraid?
Psa 27:2  When the wicked advance against me to devour me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall.
Psa 27:3  Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident.
Psa 27:4  One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.
Psa 27:5  For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock.
Psa 27:6  Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at his sacred tent I will sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the LORD.
Psa 27:7  Hear my voice when I call, LORD; be merciful to me and answer me.
Psa 27:8  My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, LORD, I will seek.
Psa 27:9  Do not hide your face from me, do not turn your servant away in anger; you have been my helper. Do not reject me or forsake me, God my Savior.
Psa 27:10  Though my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will receive me.
Psa 27:11  Teach me your way, LORD; lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors.
Psa 27:12  Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, spouting malicious accusations.
Psa 27:13  I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.
Psa 27:14  Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.
Blessings,
Millie
Maturity through Obedience
22 05 2015
11087581_sWe are in a series called maturity in our ever shifting atmosphere.  Last time we explored God-given maturity through relationship. Today we explore maturity through obedience in an ever shifting atmosphere.
Webster defines Obedience: to come into compliance with the demands or requests of one in authority. Listen to these words from Proverbs.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5 – 6
God invites us through relationship to trust and obey Him. Without relationship obedience is like an evil task master or an overbearing boss because this obedience is out of fear not relationship. What will get us through these ever shifting times as we await Messiah’s returns is listening to God and trusting him so we come into agreement (obey) him.
Recently God asked a curious thing of me, “not to leave the city limits of Portland, Oregon for a month” and because of our faith challengerelationship I have come into agreement with His request. It is a choice to obey and for me to obey is joy. During this time one friend said “it is like in Acts 1:4 when the disciples were told not to leave Jerusalem”. Another friend said “God is setting you apart”, while my husband and I believed in the beginning it was for my protection. I suspect some if not all of these are true!
Obedience can be tough and for me it has been. I can’t visit my daughters and grandkids who lives outside the city limits of Portland, I missed going to the big NDP event and worst of all I couldn’t get the items I needed to fix my husband’s sweater! Thank God for the internet.
The steps of obedience to God which lead to maturity are always a challenge as much as they can be an adventure, Father make them in this season pure joy!
Blessings and Complete Joy,
Millie
Maturity in the Shifting Atmosphere
24 04 2015
11087581_sOver the late month as I seen the spiritual shift in the atmosphere while watching people who need to be spiritual mature, struggle. In this post we will begin a series on maturity, exploring how the shifts in the atmosphere affect people through the life of Moses.
From the moment of Moses conception the atmosphere on Earth began to change, as God’s plans of redemption began to come forth. The stage is set when baby Moses is set adrift on the Nile, in hopes to save his life. Years later another shift in the atmosphere took place, let’s look at it more closely.
Moses now a man & knowing the truth of his birth, he saw the injustice put upon his people and took measures into his own hands, Exodus 2. This choice revealed the shift the atmosphere as Moses struggled to agree with God’s plan and purpose for his life. In the spirit as the atmosphere changes we are always tempted to do things from our own strength, as Moses did. It take a greater level of maturity to be able to follow God’s leading and not strike out on our own.
So drastic was this change in the atmosphere that Moses was driven out into the desert. Man drove him out into the desert but it was God’s will for in going out from everyone and everything he knew, Moses began to build a relationship with his God, learning how to walk in obedience, maturity, and authority.
Join me for our next post shifting in obedience!
Blessings and Complete Joy,
Millie
Prepare to Watch and See!
27 03 2015
This is one of the maps which hangs in our prayer room
This is one of the maps which hangs in our prayer room
We have entered a season where the visions of former seasons will see further fulfillment and we must be prepared to embrace them with joy. God himself tells us:
And so I am sure that God, who began this good work in you, will carry it on until it is finished on the Day of Christ Jesus.
Philippians 1:6
In a former season while serving as a prayer pastor, God gave me and my team a vision for a 24/7 prayer room.
There was much prayer before we approached the leadership and for a time they had a room dedicated to prayer in our church. We saw the vision come to pass in part and so as I left the church I thought that was all there would be to that promise so I let it go. Never thinking about it again.
As the CJM office search began having a pray room for clients was a must. Then sitting in the prayer room alone one day, the small still voice of God began stirring in my heart about allowing the vision to expand. The next board meeting I approached my board they were more than on board with the idea, they were shocked when I didn’t see having a House of Prayer open to the public was a natural extension for CJM.
For several months CJM wrestled with this new vision. At the start of this month our board dedicated the Shalom Oregon House of Prayer. Our mission to invite, embrace and release the peace of God over the people of God in Oregon and beyond. I marveled as maps which I had created from yet another former season were hung for the first time in years. I have seen an expansion of the vision still more, marveling as leaders from three different Houses of Prayer from around Oregon, part of the We Cry out team in advance of National Day of Prayer May 7th, sat together in our classroom praying and sharing their hearts!
I remember the struggles of those former seasons I rejoice in how God is still working to establish this 24/7 prayer vision so long ago. I know it is still incomplete for we are not 24/7 but if God himself can spark this old vision, He who began a good work  will bring it to the completed work at the appropriate time!
Blessings and Complete Joy,
Millie
